I was a little worried about you posting this for a moment seeing as you admitted they are not legal, but then I realized you are posting from Cananda...and I felt like an idiot.

Wow..............you know things are bad when Canada has better guns laws than Commiefornia.

But isn't the deal in Canada that you can't legally own a handgun?

Yeah, because you when could conceal an m4 underneath one of the winter coats you were wearing, who needs the handgun back up?

Not at all, I just bought my first one, a Glock 22. The rules governing them are much stricter than rifles, the barrel length must be greater than 105mm (approx 4.14"), and handgun ownership is uncommon here, but some people still own them. Most handguns and SBR's (SRB rules up here only apply to semi-auto center-fire rifles and shotguns) are in the "Restricted" category of firearms (as opposed to most rifles and shotguns which are Non-Restricted, and Full-Autos which are Prohibited).

Again, there is an upside. Attaching forward grips and stocks to pistols do not change their legal classification, and can be done at will.

Thanks for your response. Sounds like the information I had heard was way off base and your laws are not all that different than down here (US, not California).

Interestingly enough, most Canadians think handguns are banned! So with that in mind, it's not surprising that the idea "handguns are banned in Canada" would be perpetuated. The real travesty is we can only use handguns at "certified" ranges (and you need an "Authorization to Transport" it there ), so basically, it's illegal for you to go out into the back woods and use your handguns.

That seems odd. From the perspective of someone that has never been into Canada beyond Vancouver, BC, it seems that there is an awful lot of open land and shooting with a handgun in the wilderness would be safer (ballistically) than shooting a long gun. But then again, you didn't state the GOVT reasons for these odd sounding laws, but I'm certain it's to make everyone safer. They've instituted 10 rnd magazine limits for us in CA for the same reason. I feel SO much safer with that law. I'm sure there are others here that feel the same, eh?

Just so as not to further hijack this thread, Thanks Ar180shooter. You've helped add to my limited understanding of our Cousins to the North.

Definately an interesting rifle to be sure. Don't see a lot of those.

Went to the range today and my AR15's new scope is all dialed in. I can nail targets in the red from 100 yards easily! I'm glad a ditched my eotech set up for that scope.

What is the scope? Brand? Specs? How does it perform while running and gunning? Or do you use it primarily for medium-long range shooting? Seen lots of setups using low-power variable scopes and always wondered if the "tube" makes CQB a little slower than a traditional red dot or not. The long range benifits are definately there. Just wondering how much you sacrafice, if anything, for the upclose work. Is it noticably heavier than the Eotech? I am definately not knocking your setup. I am just asking the questions that I have had for a while because I am considering doing something similar.
