That is something to behold... I wish it could be this way here.

We can even own fullauto rifles if we apply for a special permit. but at the moment left parties are trying to destroy our gun policies and to ban the possession of any weapon for private people. if this gets through you won't even be able to take home your service rifle after you finished your military service (we can have our military SIG550 modified to semi-auto for free after duty with current laws). we'll see what the vote in january will decide..
We have to check our rifles in and out of the armory at the beginning and end of our shift in our military (if we are fortunate enough to be in a unit that is issued weapons), and they remain the property of the military during and after our enlistment. Personal firearms are not permitted to be used as duty weapons, but when living on base our personal weapons must be checked in at the armory as well and not stored in our vehicles or in the dorms or base housing. The only time the rifle goes where you go 24-hours a day is when you are deployed overseas or during a long training engagement. There are not any special privileges for having served regarding firearms ownership here. Sounds like you might be in a similar position soon. Very sorry to hear that. The skill level of our average firearms professional has declined dramatically as exposure to proper firearms training and safety has been removed from our mainstream culture. A much smaller number of people who carry firearms for living have truly mastered them compared to say 50 years ago. A lot of people who carry for living are flat out incompetent. Overtime the effectiveness of your military and police forces will suffer if firearms ownership is made illegal.

In any case, very nice rifles you have. Both personal and duty weapon are very sexy.

our SIG550 is very accurate. we also use it for sniper operations and the usual shooting distance for sportshooting with the SIG550 is 985 feet (300 meters)

Beautiful rifle you guys have! I think I'm more partial to the German G36 though. Unless of course the accuracy on the SIG is similar to their K-31 (albeit at a much shorter distance since it's a 5.56 round)!

Your country is definately on my must see again before I die list. Beautiful country, lovely women, very friendly people...just an all around wonderful place to visit/live.

I had no idea your firearms laws were so relaxed that you could own semi-auto rifles. I knew you had compuslor military service, but I assumed you had strick gun control laws like so many other European nations. Nice to see that assumption was wrong.

Very nice rifle by the way. I sure wish Short Barrelled Rifles were legal here in California. We have to have a barrel of 16 inches, or we have to build it as a "pistol" (no stock and pistol registered or virgin lower).

In any case, nice rifle. Glad you're a member of the forum.

Definitely fun to shoot. It's intended as a CQB to mid-range rifle but I'm planning to try out it's 300+ meter capabilities with a mid to long range scope.

It's also got the LMT two stage trigger (4 lbs). Something to consider for your future build.
