Might want to epoxy over the screw that's holding the stock just to be safe.Comment

this is interesting to me. I have heard or read where several folks are trying to make it "permanent" like blocking a magazine, but all of the fixed stocks can still be removed and are not permanent. And several fixed stocks can be adjusted so to speak with butt pad extensions, shims, etc.
I know better safe than sorry is always a good posture to take, but it seems like overkill in my uneducated opinion.Comment

All depends on the LEO. My mags are just riveted and BLM says that's fine. A sherif may not, and someone else may say it is. It all depends on the LEOs definition of permanent. If you have the tools maybe nothing is permanent. I can alter mine out of featureless in 20 minutes or less, but I'm not going to. That's the problem with these laws. It's all just cosmetic and also vaguely defined. The butt pad can be altered easily but requires tools. Like the Magpul precision stock, is that considered an evil feature? I don't know but it is adjustable so I won't use one.this is interesting to me. Sometimes it's easier if we revisit the control language.Originally posted by goodoljake;And several fixed stocks can be adjusted so to speak with butt pad extensions, shims, etc.
Ca Penal Code 30515(a)(1)(C). :Not "adjustable", or "collapsible"; "Fixed", "folding" or "telescoping".30515. (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, “assault weapon” also means any of the following:
(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
From the pending Regulations, (https://d3uwh8jpzww49g.cloudfront.ne...ulations.pdf):The term "permanent" does not appear. If it's pinned, (it does not (present tense), "move, fold or telescope",) it meets the definition of "stock, fixed".Section 5471. Registration of Assault Weapons Pursuant to Penal Code Section 30900(b)(1);
Explanation of Terms Related to Assault Weapon Designation
For purposes of Penal Code section 30515 and this Chapter the following definitions shall apply:
(mm) "Stock, fixed" means a stock that does not move, fold or telescope.
(nn) "Stock, folding" means a stock which is hinged in some fashion to the receiver to allow the stock to be folded next to the receiver to reduce the overall length of the firearm. This definition includes under folding and over folding stocks.
(zoo) "Stock, telescoping" means a stock which is shortened or lengthened by allowing one section to telescope into another portion. On AR-15 style firearms, the buffer tube or receiver extension acts as the fixed part of the stock on which the telescoping buttstock slides or telescopes.
