    cali conversion issue

    anyone think that companies that do the Cali Conversion (Mag lock, 10 round mag, ect) Usually raises the price of the rifle in addition to the conversion fee thinks it's a bs? For example

    Atlantic firearms C39 Ak costs $675, Comes with 2-30 round mags.
    Mag lock costs $45(maybe $5 to make). Lets say each mag cots $20 a piece.

    They say "There will be no substitutions or discounts for removal of magazines or any other custom magazine"

    You pay them $45 to screw on the mag lock and they get to keep 2 mags they can resell. Sound right? and you get a cali legal rifle with Zero mag. kinda a jip.

            I agree it's a rip off but they can charge whatever they like. I won't buy, glad they do business with us atleast. Gives people an option. I bought my maglock for like 10 bucks..

              I only take issue with thefact that the price of the maglock is pretty damn high. Alsl in my opinion, if they're willing to sell you a mag lock and install it, they should also offer mag blocks for sale and install them. That would help for sure.

                  1= 2 minutes? and they make more money from the mags that I pay for?
                  2= Wish the vote to split the state would have been on the ballot.
                  3= no shop
                  5=most ffl's won't release a rifle without maglocks and won't install them as they will need a FFL07 license.

                  Think I'll wait for PSA/Cmmg rifles to come out to see their's.

                      Need a FFL 07 to install a mag lock?

                      Who told you that?

                        Take a look at discount gun mart and Turners outdoorsman. They always have C39s in stock in already CA preconfigured versions usually with at least 1 CA 10rd mag. Prices seemed reasonable. To buy out of state and have them mod it then send to FFL where you pay transfer, tax and DROS it ends up being about the same. Just the way CA is for new rifles. If you can find a used rifle in your area, typically the PPT fee is 30-45 bucks which includes DROS.

                              They run business as they see fit. Business is open to make profit. Not ideal for a consumer in the example but yes it's a way to make money And help comply with cali
