Aimpoint versus Eotech? Which is which?

I own both Aimpoint Comp 3 and Eotech 553. I like both of them and they are the staple of my 2 newly built AR15. Each one has it's own unique features and i like both of 'em.

However, my two buddies who are also gun nuts have different opinions regarding the subject. One likes aimpoint and the other likes the Eotech.

this poll is created of which of the 2 has more followers here in calguns..

after voting please make a comment on why?

I would go for AIMpoint cause I liked using it since I'm in the ARMY and all. Its useful for long distances and somewhat close quarters. We used the AIMpoint comp 2's I believe. It was easy to zero and use. But I just picked up an EOTech and I'm starting to like it. But I would personally use an AIMpoint

Aimpoint. ...because I would bet my life on it (and have).

M68s are pretty damn good. Mine was pretty battered and bruised after I returned but worked flawless every time I rotated the power. Battery life??...dunno...never had to change it...LOL! I'd run one any day all day without a complaint.

I have been playing with the Eotech 552 on my personal rifle for over a year. I like the reticle and its just as quick as the M68. I think the newer models with the side power setting are better. Its awkward having to push both buttons simultaneously to power down.

EOtech reticle is way too busy and large for serious work.

Aimpoint is simple dot that requires minimal, if any, instruction to operate.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

personally i like the eotech sight over the aimpoint just b/c the redical is better. However the eotech never works when i need it so that negates the value of the eotech. " The batteries are always dead". I'm a big fan of the new aimpoint micro sight. It gives you increased field of view as well as a long run time. Relibility trumps cool factor every time.

I actually prefer the A.65 reticle on the EOTech...
But as of late (Read: Merge with L3) they seem to have dropped downhill...
Many folks have experienced problems with their sights, the 553 sight in particular had quite a few issues and EOtech was forced to send out "Repair-Kits" to fix broken units. I've seen quite a few units go down in classes.
Aimpoints have an excellent track record. The extremely long battery life is a nice feature, I leave my Aimpoint on and if I ever needed to, I could grab my rifle and get to pulling triggers. Not exactly necessary, but it's the little things in life..

Aimpoint is what I own because of durability.

Aimpoints fit on AKs better, so Aimpoint for me. I have an EOTech 552, it just sits too high.

I just picked up a used Comp M2, and love it.

The reticle on the 552 is better for fine aiming, IMO. I like the fact that the Aimpoint actually turns off; the EOTech goes to standby mode, which IMO is where a lot of battery life goes.

Other than installed height issues (EOTech = one height only, Aimpoint you can change the mount around); the battery type and life; and the specifics of how the sights adjust for brightness and zero, there really isn't a big functional difference between the two.

Put the dot on the target and break the shot. Cheek weld? Not really needed. Eye relief? Not an issue. They're both the same once it's time to put shots on target, IMO.

EOtech 1MOA=better than Aimpoint 4MOA for precision and even CQB shots IMHO also I seem to acquire targets faster in the EO than the AIM

Eotech=wide field of view=faster target line up
1moa dot good for precision work

I have both. I still feel like I'm looking down a tub with an Aimpoint. The Eotech has a wider field of view. It almost feels like a reticle appearing right in front of you with out the tube.
