Hey everyone I am getting ready to go to Afghanistan and I wanted to know if any one has used these mags before over seas? How did they perform? Also has anyone seen these any cheaper any where else?

I can remember in my day the magazines they gave us sucked really bad and would cause all kinds of failures. So, IMO anything is going to be better than the G.I. stuff they issue you. Sorry I have never used that magazine before, but if it is made by HK it should be good. Oh yeah, I don't know what sand resistant means, SAND IS GOING TO GET EVERYWHERE YOU DO NOT WANT IT TO GO. It sounds awfully like a gimmick to me.

Good luck over there and keep your head down!

not personally but if theyre the hk ones one of my buddies had they supposed to be really good. GI mags usually have been around the block for quite awhile and werent built like a tank in the first place.

I know for a fact Navy EOD still uses them.

Never used them, but supposedly they are great until about 1k rounds, then the springs crap out. HK doesn't sell replacement springs, and considers mags disposable. "Just throw it away and buy another" seems like their response when asked about it.

Pmags work great and are 3-for-1 cost wise.

hks are worth it, if u dont pay for em.

Most units our issuing fresh mags anyway, a lot of our team guys got 2 hk mags in addition to their regular 8.

Theyre good, just dont spend balls to the wall trying to replace all ur mags with em.

I received a bunch of them in a 'trade' for some other things with some blackwater guys.

cost of them really sucks though if you have to buy them.

Ive never used a P-mag so I cant compare the two.

I've been recently won over to the P mag side.

HK's are neat, but for balls out reliability and insane durability you really can't beat the P mag.

I tested them for the dept. and they're the real deal. CDNN is quoting a retail civilian price. If you're in a position to get your unit involved, contact HK mil. sales and get a price for a quantity - $18.00 each in quantities over 100 when we bought ours.

As others have said, the magazines are very highly thought of and I have never heard any complaints about them...

By the way.... "any buddy" - that was awesome.
