My introduction into the AK world will be a plain Saiga that I will do the front end and magazine conversions on. I think it will look nice with the updated black hand guards and AK74 sights/muzzle.

Please excuse my ignorance (I'm not familiar with current AK variants & I'm reading / researching quite a bit in my spare time) but what is a front end and magazine conversion to a current Saiga?

I'd take a guess and say the front end conversion to use traditional ak furniture(upper and lower handguard) and the magazine conversion is adding the bullet guide so regular ak mags can be used instead of the Saiga ones.

Once you add the bullet guide you can use regular AK mags, you move the trigger forward if you want to add a pistol grip

Check out the window grips member click boom makes, im wrestling with going featureless or not. The thordsen style does not seem like a good fit for an ak. Grip wraps are very unobtrusive and keep the rifle still looking goodm

If I put a monsterman grip on my AK, does this mean that I do not have to have a mag lock AND I can use a regular capacity magazine? Or do I only get to take the mag lock off and are still limited to 10 round mags?

with a monsterman grip, u are running featureless provided that u aren't running a forward grip or flash hider..u can use standard mags and no need for maglock
