Have one with 14x1lh adapter. Haven't shot trough it yet but it's super lightweight, feels as some sort aluminum.

I would go with the SSS QD Brake Shield on a YHM Muzzle Device:

Weapon Outfitters Online Retail Store for gear, accessories, and lifestyle merchandise

Simplistic Shooting Solutions wanted to find a way to reduce punishing concussion on SBRs, rifles with muzzle brakes, and AR pistols without suppressors attached. In that, they developed a simple solution (hey!)

The QD Brake Shield attaches to your Yankee Hill mount and acts a simple steel shroud to direct expanding propellent gasses and consussion foward; away from the shooter and his homies! They took an additional step to add cerakote to the QD Brake Shield to protect it from the elements and add a dash of color in a world full of black muzzles.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just sometimes people need to express themselves in cerakote Black, OD, Burnt Bronze, or FDE.

Proudly designed and made in the USA!

That's some heavy stuff. I've had excellent results with the A2 sized 2.2 oz BRT covert compensator. I also use the Levang, Kineti-tech and Troy Claymore.

All of them work well, I know they work because my wife stopped complaining.

Griffin Armament makes some shields for their line of suppressor mount brakes as well:

In my limited experience, the brake shield designs like the SSS, Kinitech, Ferfrans and Griffin Armament ones above seem to work better than either Linear Comps or KX3 style devices for redirecting blast to the front. I made a brake shield similar to the ones above for the Ops Inc brake on my SPR and 14.5" middy. It works extremely well for reducing blast and dust printing when shooting off a bipod, but the open tube design tends to act like a bell after every shot. The overall effect is that the rifle now sounds like an M1 Garand going empty every time the trigger is pulled.

i dont know the science behind any of this stuff, but this is plainly obvious while me and my buddies are shooting in the desert with 2 of my 16" midlength rifles, one with a lantac dragon, the other with a noveske kx5. the front sight simply doesnt move with the lantac and it is crazy loud. its a whole lot more pleasant to shoot with the kx5 hearing-wise (to the point where we seriously considered going protection-less), but the muzzle jumps around, making quick and accurate followup shots a challenge. i dont need a decibel meter or slowmo video or any of that stuff. just my seat o' the pants meter.

Seat of the pants meters are just fine!

From what I've see. The BRT covert comp seems quite nice while being very low weight like an A2. I like the looks of the barking spider but it looks damn heavy!

I built a 18" heavy barrel rifle length ar with a levang for coyote hunting and my 14.5" midlenght lightweight build with a spikes dynacomp recoils almost 50% less I swear.

I have a BRT on the end of my 20" barrels becase of the weight. It's like nothing there weighing it down. Plus they are small and don't have that linear "look". The splayed angles of the gas ports seems to offer a bit more recoil reduction than the straight hole designs of the Troy and Levang.

It also has a larger exit hole than the Troy or Levang, important if you want one shooting a 300 blackout or 7.62 without it blowing up in your face.

                      KIES Blast Master

I have a KIES Blast Master on my POF 308 rifle. Seems to work well according to the people on either side of me. It is a linear compensator so throws all the blast forward instead of sideways/upwards.

They make a 223 version as well.

I think it costs about $45.

+1 for griffin armament, their brakes and flash comps are awesome, id rather have a nice muzzle device when im not shooting indoors than always have a linear comp. When shooting indoors just throw the blast shield on and you are gtg. Thats just me though.

The linear comp/kx5/etc designs will add varying degrees of back-pressure (good for shorter barrels) and direct some noise forward. The gun won't be any quieter, but the shooter's ear won't hear as much of it. We sell quite a number of them. Many of the customers are using them for AR pistols or they're using them for hunting.

The KAK Flash Can is inexpensive (although aluminum) and very similar in design to the Noveske KX5.

The most popular linear device we sell is by far the Kaw Valley Precision Linear Comp. They are priced well at $45 and work as advertised.

The Griffin QD Blast Shield was just recently introduced and will work with the 5.56 QD Griffin Muzzle Devices, along with standard A2 flash hiders.

I have a Levang Linear Compensator on mine. Works fine, but I've had it on there so long I can't remember how loud it was without it.

Yeah comps are pretty obnoxious I do not enjoy being next to one. For my featureless build I bought a 5.5 inch a2 flash hider from model1sales and cut it to rough a2 length. Only cost like $15 dollars and my bayonet still fits perfect
