CMMG Mk9LE OR 9mm Who owns one?

Been looking hard at a 9mm carbine. I'm tempted to get a Ruger PC9 but for the cost, the Ruger is an old police issued with wear & tear. I've read a few posts on other gun forums about the CMMG M4LE. The owners seem to love them provided you use the right magazines. Metalform, CProducts, and ProMag are mentioned as working or NOT working by some.

Anyone here own a CMMG? Your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated. Oh, I know Hi-Points have a cult following but I'm NOT even interested in them.

Their stripped lowers work well, but I can't speak about their complete rifles. IIRC their lower parts kits are made over seas and there has been reported problems in the past for parts breaking with low round counts. As far as mags go the new generation stainless ACS mags work 100% of the times.

Another option is using an AR lower you already have by getting a mag block that will allow the use of Uzi/Grease gun mags in 9mm, getting an upper with a bolt that does not need a specialized hammer, and buffer. Then you're good to go.

I recently picked up a standard CMMG MK9LE and some cheap 10-rd ASC mags from 44mag, and am planning to shoot it this weekend for the first time. Will let you know how it goes.

Metalform and ASC mags have always worked well for me. I would stay away from Promag. The old CP mags seemed hit or miss, but they at no longer in business (ASC took over the company).

The CMMG 9mm lowers I have seen looked good and worked good assuming you use good parts....Heavy Buffers Q buffer, etc.

As mentioned above, you could go the route of using a mag block in a standard AR lower and 9mm upper.
If you go that route use a Hahn dedicated block and save yourself some headache over he cheaper blocks.

I currently have a DDLES Glock lower 9mm build. You can find info on it here:

            9mm AR's are a LOT of fun.

I had a CMMG 9mm AR. It was fun to shoot - the only AR I can shoot at the indoor range. It was reliable enough, but it wasn't particularly accurate. I ended up selling it because I didn't find a regular use for it.

Thanks guys for the ideas. Unfortunately, I don't have an AR so I would be starting from the ground up. This is why I was looking at complete 9mm carbines. A slow build is an option but I'm a neophyte to building an AR. I would be bummed to use the wrong parts and have a very quirky carbine.

Matts2K is about the only posts I've seen that didn't like their CMMG. I just wonder what the conditions where that lead to it' poor accuracy? A 3" MOA at 100 yards would be great which JP GMR-13 claim. But JP GMR-13 start at $1500 and go up depending on options.

I think I'll pass on the Ruger PC's since they almost fetch as much as a CMMG 9mm carbine. I do like having options which the AR platform offers.

R1ghtW1ing, please post your range report. Would love to hear your thoughts too.

If I go the build route for a AR 9mm, does anyone know a guide on which parts work with what and such or is it all trial & error?

They will fit, but you won't be able to use them in CA. Great for free-state use if you already have them, or if you're going with a featureless build.

                        haha clearly!

it was kind of a tongue in cheek statement anyway

I was seeing about 4-5 MOA at 50 and 100 yards (federal AE 9MM) with my CMMG. Not complaining, it was a fine rifle - just my observations.

I am getting 1" - 1 1/2" groups at 50 yards using quality ammo off a bench with my JP GMR-13 upper and DDLES Glock lower build.
This is with a 1X sight, my old eyes, and the wrong target for group shooting with the above rig.

My old Colt pattern build (last three pics) would do about the same.

Both could easily keep all hits on 6" steel plates at 100 yards off hand.

Nice just hope they don't leave people on a waiting list for a year then decide to close up shop, change the name and reopen.
