    Dressing-up the AK

Alright, I need to make my future AK-74 Deleted and I need some help. So far I have decided on the following: ACE folding stock, some foregrip, Vortex Strikefire. What is the best side-rail scope mount thats out there or that you have had good experience with? What railed handuards are the best quality and look the nicest? I am also in need of a bad *** pistol grip and possibly another muzzle device besides the standard 74 brake. Obviously MY opinions on what looks good or not will be different from YOURS, but I would like to be more aware of available options, even for categories I didnt list. Suggest away!

Awhile back I remember reading about some company that was designing a top rail that fit over the AK receiver cover and attached to the rear sight base. It looked like a great compromise for those who didn't want to bother with installing a side mount. I'll see if I can find it.

                        Glad to hear it.
All you need for your AK is a few cases of ammo then.

I actually have 4 different siderails for my two AK's, one WASR and one Saiga

All are fine, one is a cheap-o airsoft accessorie i bought on ebay and mounted a cheap-o tasco on for my WASR for 100 yard range work, the rail was $10 + shipping and the scope like $25 used...lol, i dunno how well it holds zero since the WASR probably is more like a 4-5 MOA gun out of the box

I have a rail for the Saiga from RAA, a UTG AK rail and some other random no-name rail, all three of those are beefier than the airsoft ones, of course. All of those cost $30-45 range.

The Saiga and UTG rails are all holding up fine, hold zero as well as an AK can...the 3rd random no-name rail is a QR type and the QR is finicky with the back nut tightness

I believe AK's should be kept simple (I guess the term nowadays is KISS). I decided to make my first Romy build into a 74 look-alike with synthetic furniture and it's a great looking rifle, but, IMO, Telescoping stocks and rails don't belong on AK's. The rugged simplicity of the AK is only harmed when "useless" accessories are added.

I'm not a huge fan of rails on an AK either, but then again it's not mine.

Here's a scope mount you can look into... even though you have a side mount... this is just different, and kinda looks cool too. I plan to get one for my SKS and add a long eye refief scope....
