If you order online, you'll still need to find a local FFL to receive it. Most will charge about $100 for the privilege. If you're between SF and Sacto, you should stop at Triple A sporting goods in Vallejo. They're super helpful and had a good selection of AKs the last time I was there. You should be able to walk out with one for under $1k if you can find one you like.

I would be shooting steel long range, 2-4 MOA baseline would be acceptable.

My SCAR 16 has a similar action as the AK, very clean cycling.

Similar how? Short stroke vs long stroke. That right there is a big difference
