    Magnetic Supertool

Not sure if that has been covered before.

I hate bullet buttons. Not used to using them, I've only used it maybe once in my life. I was looking at different options for my M400 and found this on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Supertool-Bull...=bullet+button

It seemed really neat, and easier to make "normal" magazine changes. Then I saw this review: "Great product. Instantly turned my California Legal Rifle into an illegal assault weapon! Highly recommended if you enjoy prison food, communal showers, and living in confined spaces without privacy!"

Is this guy correct or what? He says he's from Calguns (lol). He seemed to argue that whenever you are using the tool you are creating an illegal assault weapon. If that's true, then wouldn't you be creating an assault weapon whenever you are attaching a bullet or other tool? I think the logic is kind of faulty.

    Any expert opinions out there?

    Found this: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=238857

Magnetic as well but I think different operation. Also had worse reviews..

No expert, but this is how I understand it:

By using a bullet tip or other tool to push the magazine release, the tool does not "attach" to the rifle, therefore legal.

If the tool attaches in any way, shape or form, including magnetically, it is illegal.

So, if I carry a couple rounds in my pistol grip, It's illegal.
Never thought about it until right now.

If it attaches in a manner that allows for you to operate the bullet button as though it is a normal mag release it's illegal. You can have the tool attached to the firearm. That's the general concensus here, I haven't seen an actual PC or case law on it.

            This is true.

            This is not.

To use a round in one's pistol grip to release a locked magazine, it must be removed from the pistol grip, hence it is no longer attached. Attaching a dummy round to your maglocked rifle with a lanyard, however, might not be a good idea.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Actually, here in Kern County, bullet buttons are illegal along with those restricted 10 round magazines. ;-)

                  +1 with Grumpy

however, somewhere along the way, I remember something regarding if the rounds are attached to the firearm (shotgun saddle), it's considered "loaded but not chambered". This was a conversation I had with a DFG warden a few years ago, so my info might be out of date.

I could see someone actually trying to prosecute for having the tool attached in the grip... it's connected to the gun the same as having it attached via a string, no? I see the difference but just saying that sort of stupidity could probably end up in court lol.

I can't wrap my head around how dumb these laws are... /rant
