Saiga Rifles - mil spec / quality question

So what makes the quality of a Romanian parts kit inferior to a polish ?. is it just fit and finish or mechanically is it poorly made . small details of fit and finish mean nothing to a lot of us. ME. About the only moving part re used is the bolt . how bad can the bolt be .

Unless your AK is full auto, its not mil-spec anyway, so I don't really understand his argument. Why is swapping bolt carriers between different rifles such a desirable feature? Never had one fail.

I have a Saiga rifle I've put over 5k rounds through. The only problem I have is the metal handguard gets hot

Dems/gop two sides of the same coin except on a couple issues. It's not like you can fully trust most gop candidates to care-take the 2nd unless there is a real mandate from the public. It really really sucks that the people who don't shoot see us as a bunch of lunatics. We need more marksmanship "evangelicals" to show people that it's good, clean fun. Everyone should try as hard as they can to find that person in their life that is opposed to guns and invite the hell out of them to come shooting so that they can see that it is in fact good, safe, clean fun with lots of benefits.

So go out there and adopt a gun grabber.

In speaking with a friend he made a comment about preferring a surplus demilled rifle over a saiga.

His observations were that saigas were built and the parts measured and separated by size into 3 categories.

So when built, they used the same size parts to build a gun.

But if you swapped bolt and carriers between several different guns, they might not run.

He also said that the post sample class 3 guns built on saigas tended to fail.

He preferred almost every used military demilled kit to built an AK over the saiga conversions.

His logic was that the Russians were still building to 1950's technology and that as long as the parts ended up fitting and running, it was a sellable gun.

Saigas are modular guns. For the standard calibers (5.45,5.56,7.62) they only make one style bolt carrier, trunnion, barrel profile, and barrel parts. The difference is the bolt and bore. Standardized parts makes manufacturing easier and cheaper. You can swap parts within most types or series of AKs. Trust me, I have built guns using parts from 5 different factories and they run, but only if you stay within that series of gun, without serious modification of the parts . You can't use a 74 style bolt with an AKM carrier or barrel. Like building anything, measure twice, cut once and experience counts over knowledge. Reading about something does not mean you've built a hundred guns.

gotta add; it seems like charges against republican 'cooks' get dropped more than half the time after the election (and as such; it is rarely reported widely). re: in many cases the so called republican crook is actually the victim of a crooked dem prosecutor.
