    PSA Upper

Has anyone ever taken one of these apart?

I recently purchased an upper from them, I purchased the upper during one of their sales just for the barrel.

I cannot remove the barrel nut. I bruised and cut my hand on my wrench. I finally went out and bought a cheater bar and snapped my vice. It literally snapped in two parts.

I have built and changed around many uppers and have never seen this. The spring that holds the handguards in place is even notably looser from being compressed so much.

I soaked the nut in oil for hours before getting the cheater bar. I do not know what to do.

    This is psa not ptac

Does anyone know what they use on their uppers? This is definitely more than 80 pounds of torque.

Heat that thing up and use hot gloves. If you need a pair, bbq store has them.

I agree, and not a soldering iron. Direct flame - torch. They must use thick coats of threadlocker.

                  PSA does not use threadlocker.

OP I have totally taken a PSA upper appart.
I used cold because I have access to a large freezer...

Sure heat would probably work as well but since I had it and used it for my gasblock (which was also super tight) I just threw it back into the freezer.

I still had to use my AR tool with a breaker bar to get it to break free

No its a 14.7 chf set up.

I dont know why I didn't think of heat I've used it before to remove a barrel that was stuck to the receiver.

So much for saving a couple bucks, ill need a new vice before I can try again.

I'll update when I try again.

I just took mine apart. Needed a torque wrench for the barrel nut.

Was it brand new? Or well used? I just went out and bought another vice, a bigger vice.

If I have time after I set it up, I'll give another go at it after heating it up.
