    Vepr 7.62x54R - Range report!

Seemed like an eternety ago I drosed the Vepr and today I finally brought her home. I am extremely pleased and surprised with how nice fit and finish on these rifle is. I also got very lucky with the stock that came with this rifle. I really like the darker brown color and the grain of the wood. The gun feels SOLID. I will be going to the range tomorrow and see how she groups. Feels like Christmas. This was ordered from Atlantic Firearms, which was a very hassle free experience. The only negative is this rifle is the way it's advertised on their website. Under description is says: "it is crowned with extra heavy duty Target barrel" and come to find out this barrel is no different than a "non-target" barrel on any other 7.62x54R Veprs. One of the reasons why I went with this Vepr is because I wanted a heavier barrel than the Vepr I had in the past but I am still VERY please with what I got!

Can the VEPR accommodate standard AK furniture? Is the receiver under the butstock cut square? What is the distance from the gas block to the rear site block?

      Nice pics.
Atlantic is easy to deal with.
Mine is still just running with the iron sights but will have a scope on it soon enough.
I think the recoil is only slightly more than an AKM.
Let us know your take on her.
      Happy shooting.

I have always loved the looks of these. I would buy one except I want a .308 AR first. But someday!

That is a nice stock. It's sort of too bad, since I intend to swap out the stock when I get mine to build this:

Thanks. That's does look very sharp. That was actually my intention as well but I can't, with all my conscience, pay $400 for the stock. Btw, it looks like the front sight has the plunger system so you should be able to use the svd style flash hider

Excellent choice! The Vepr54r is at the top of my "must buy when not broke again" list.

Atlantic used to cary the 10rders by SGM, dont know if they still do.

If you get 10 rounders from Atlantic; be sure and check them. Mine all held 11 rounds so I had to block them at 10.

My 7.62 X 54 VEPR is a 6-8 MOA gun with surplus light ball. I'm told they shoot much better with heavy ball. Just bought some and need to try itnout.

Congrats nice rifle, if you have factory trigger, Think G2 you can get one from Dinzag already made for Vepr or you can tweak G2 yourself , big difference ,my X54 likes heavier gr bullets 170-180, Brown, Silver bear.
BTW Guy from other forum posted ,I tried it and can confirm its working
"So messing with my Vepr today I found that it might have a bolt hold open feature when charging. If I am charging the rifle at a point after the hammer is cocked use light pressure on the trigger and I hear another click then the charging handle is locked in the rear posistion and will only move forward again if you pull the handle all the way to the back
