    Are you guys really serious?

Is there any indication that we are in a political climate where it seems likely that someone is going to try to go door to door confiscating guns? Politicians can't even get universal background checks on the books do you really think they are going to take on confiscating guns?

Does anyone know of anytime in US history when guns were confiscated from the general population?

Yes, some guns were confiscated in New Orleans, LA (NOLA) following hurricane Katrina.

      March 5, 2014

After a letter turned up that had supposedly been sent to gun owners in Connecticut demanding that they turn in or get rid of their weapons, the state officials denied that they had sent it out. Quite notably, they didn’t deny that a letter was ready to be sent out or that the letter that had been made public was real. Well, now the denials have ended and they’re admitting that the confiscation has begun.

Gun confiscations have already occurred here in Kalifornia.

Sadly my gun funds have been diverted to other "unexpected" expenses.

Confiscating guns from the mentally ill, felons, violent persons, and those addicted to drugs is exactly what we should be doing.

So here's a question which states require you to register long guns? Just Kalifornia or......

And if you are not buying rifles now because of registration, why did you buy pistols that were registered? Seems kind of tin hat wearing to me if you were ok with them knowing about your pistols but your scared about them knowing about your rifles.

I think a lot of us just slipped every purchase in before the end of last year. With extra lowers to use for future projects...

considering my two main long guns are a vepr and saiga... I'm feeling pretty good about my decision to do preemptive, before the end of last year, purchases

I bought rifles before January, I bought rifles after. I don't really care if they know about my Tikka T3 lite. Or my Saiga.

So let's do the inventory of ways I am listed by the government as a firearms owner, both state and federal...

                              1. I have an FFL03, so even though all of the long guns bought pre-01/01/2014 are not on the books, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out that I have some.

                              2. I have an AOW, so I have a Firearms Trust and a tax stamp.

                              3. I have a COE, so that notified the state that I am collecting firearms.

                              4. I have plenty of handguns, all are registered since they were all bought post 1989 or whenever DROS began in the 80s.

                              5. Since 01/01/2014, I have bought a CCW pistol, plus self registered three C&R pistols bought out of state.

At this point, there is no point in not buying whatever I want. Yes, they will all be registered. Hopefully by the time mass confiscation comes around, I will live in another state and hopefully the mass confiscation will be limited to the communist states. For those who are forward thinking, there are legal methods, that I would not mention here, that would allow one to access his or her legally owned firearms, that would preclude seizure or confiscation. Of course, at that point, anyone doing this would become a de facto criminal, which will be a choice that every law-abiding gun owner will have to make when that time comes, turn 'em in, move, go to jail or go out in a blaze of useless protest. I predict the black market for guns and ammo would be the largest the world has ever seen and would persist for generations. There are approximately 350 million guns in the U.S. and it is thought that around half of them are illegally possessed and not on any records. So 175 million guns would still be available on the black market, plus 80%, 3D printed and home milled. The Genie was out of the bottle years ago and no amount of registration and confiscation will ever put it back in the bottle. That's what the tyrants can't wrap their heads around, game over.

The other good news is that the State and Fed's record keeping, tracking and monitoring ability for gun possession is basically full of holes and mistakes, I would be willing to bet that when confiscation time comes, they will miss huge amounts of guns because their record keeping and tracking is generally inaccurate.
