    300 BLK in California?

Since suppressors are not allowed, do you guys still think 300 AAC blackout is a worthwhile round within California?

I personally think it is, BUT I dont know if I'd say its worth replacing 223. I'd like to see what others think before I invest in a new upper.

300 BLK is designed specifically for use with a suppressor, so right off the bat its primary reason for existence is somewhat moot.

That said if you specifically want subsonic ammunition its still an option. Finding it can be a pain and it's not exactly a jaw-dropper performance wise but neither is it a bad cartridge. Honestly it's more taste, I'd go with 6.5 Grendel if I were you.
So I was driving home from the range and I noticed that the scent of warm steel, burnt gunpowder and lukewarm coffee combined and smelled oddly of... Peanut butter?! Man, the Hoppe's is going to my head.

what exactly do you want to do with the 300blk that you couldnt accomplish with a good .223 barrel?
since you cant go subsonic it would be cheaper in the long run (if you dont plan to reload all your ammo) to simply buy an ak or a 7.69x39 upper and always run cheap steel ammo.

      my $.02.

also i agree with the 6.5 grendel sentiment. if youre gonna be supersonic get a round that stays supersonic longer. if you dont reload, ammos about the same price.

If u like action shooting, run-n-gun and such a 300aac is perfect. You dont need suppressor for it to work. I shoot 90% subsonic with no complaint.

Reason I bring this up is Im planning on buying an ARAK 21 upper and I was wondering if I should get a second barrel in 300 BLK or just get two 223 barrels, one 12.5" and one 16 or 20". Only reason Im even considering the 20" is IF it would put me at 30" oal so I can have a folding stock.

I should probably also mention I do own a 7.62 suppressor. Obviously I can't take it with me when I move to CA. Haven't decided if Im going to add someone to my trust who lives in a free state or if Ill just store it in a safety deposit box in Vegas while I live in CA. But I DO actually have a use for 300 BLK. I just probably wont use it much until I move back out of CA.

Gonna be living off of my GI Bill so weekend trips to Vegas aren't going to happen.

With a 150 gr bullet, you can stop a hog on it track within 100 yds. It will be tough to accomplish that with a .223

I did not know that. So 300 BLK offers superior ballistic performance (in lighter bullets)?

100Gr-240gr. All good in 300blk. You cam search for one of my video shooting a deer with a 300blk 150gr bullet.

I personally saw benefit in the potential and am just finishing my build now. Working on ammo at the moment.

its pointless to have a 300 black out in california as you already mentioned since we cant have suppressors and cannot have SBR's. if you want to stop something with a 30 cal projectile shoot it with a 7.62x39 from either an ak or ar up to you !

                          Different strokes for different folks!!
To me, 300 AAC BLK is a short range 308 and interchangeable with my 556 platform.

Yes! 300BK works in a standard AR platform, only need a barrel change. Everything else can be used, even the mags. I am planning a 300 BK upper made/bought from PSA as a second, higher energy round for my AR platform. Hunting or mid-range greater penetration. Kill multiple zombies with one shot.
