    Ace M4 Socom stock

Just switched out my Magpul ACR stock on my Sig 516 with the Ace M4 SOCOM buttstock. I haven't fired the rifle with it yet but it feels much sturdier and balanced. Feels like I can buttstroke the crap out of anything with it.

    Anybody else have one? Thoughts?

Never liked the sling options for those. Also, earlier ones would actually slip when locked due to poor locking design. Also don't like the neoprene cheek weld.

As far as the locking mech, the pushbutton release are the way to go. The other type still do that.

I have the Gen 4 and the locking mechanism seems to work well. It's not as good as the ACR for cheek weld but it's much more solid. It seems to be able to drive nails if necessary. I like that it's all metal rather than a piece of plastic.

I'm not a fan of the foam buffer tube cover either. I've found that a paracord chord wrapped tube works extremly well and will not move if wrapped properly...

I've got one and it's solid. I've never seen one that has caused a failure (due to recoil spring/buffer travel) in hard use, while I have seen other buffer tubes that were damaged enough to cause failure.
I actually prefer the foam (although 550 cord is a good idea, and the foam is replaceable) -- when it's hot out, putting your face on a HOT plastic stock gets real old, real quick. Burning your face while establishing a cheek weld is no fun, and kinda bad for precision...
As far as sling attachment, I run a QD attachment point on the outside of the stock (I'm a righty) and run the sling through the gap on the stock -- otherwise I found that it can get in the way of manipulating the charging handle. That's using a VCAS padded, 2pt QD sling. Still trying to figure out a more elegant solution, but it works for what I do with it.

I'm using a JPE silent captured spring buffer in my rifles which helps with the stress and wear caused by spring motion. (and a lot quieter too)
