I should also have been more specific, 922 is indeed an import regulation.

With respect to a muzzle device as a banned feature, I made a misstatement. I meant to say flash suppressor. If he wants to have a flash suppressor or a muzzle device with "flash hiding capabilities", he will need to have a mag lock or else he creates an assault weapon as defined by California. This may not be a problem since he might not have a Saiga with a threaded barrel.

Please excuse the misstatements. Really embarrassing.

Tldr: changing out of default will require you to have no more than 10 foreign parts. If the Saiga 14, change out the trigger (3) and choose from us-made: magazines, buttstocks, handguards, pistol grip, etc.

If you have telescoping stock, pistol grip, or a vertical foregrip you must use a maglock to comply with ca law.

Again please excuse the horrible misstatements. Happy lunar New year
Not horrible just not accurate. The devil is in the details, they will burn you and try to send you to prison with the details. Beat them at their game, know the law in and out.

but for 922r , your 3 EASIEST parts are US made mags.

dont mess with the FCG, same for a MAK90, russian and chinese FCG's are FAR FAR superior to tapco IMO anyways

It's a Saiga. The FCG is god awful, it should be the first thing to be messed with.

I haven't found US made mags I'll trust my life with. A tapco can be tuned to just about anything your looking for in a trigger.

Here is a nice checklist on compliance. I did mine recently and the tapco trigger is so much nicer than stock.

i have ZERO issues with US palm mags
and at least use a US made floor plate for an easy 1 part

ive never shot a saiga...i didnt realize the triggers were so bad.

Its not necessarily the trigger itself....saigas have this transfer bar in the fcg that makes it feel really crappy

I actually really like the Tapco FCG. Even when I went to Front Sight when they went to do firearm inspection I had 3 different inspectors come over commenting on how nice the trigger was. Weird that you guys don't like them.
