Question for those of you with JP Enterprises reduced power springs

Are any of you experiencing light primer strikes?

I noticed in one of the trigger threads, a lot of you recommended these springs.

I tried them before in an M4, and was having at least one light primer hit per mag while shooting M193.

I did some research and was told to cut off the tail of the hammer to make it lighter.

I didn't wanna mess with it, so I put the standard springs back in.

If reliability is a concern, you won't mess with the light springs. They're meant for race guns where you're conditions are as controlled as you can make them (IE your weapon is cleaned very regularly and you're using the same high-quality ammo all the time).

Conversely, using them is a good way to get malfunction clearing practice in if they're only happening once per mag.

JP makes a couple different weights- the 'tactical' spring is probably what you are looking for.

This was a while ago, and someone gave me a set of those springs so I tried them out just for the hell of it.

I just thought I'd ask cause it seems a lot of people here have them, but they don't mention replacing or modifying their hammers.

I have one my RRA National Match two-stage trigger. Works great, never had light primer strike, also works great with my spike's 5.45x39 upper which is known for hard primers.

I know a lot of people running them (including me). I've never heard of a problem yet. Your mileage may vary. Only one way to find out and it's cheap to try.

I've got the JP 4.5 springs in two of my 223 ar's; no problems at all. I also have the reduced power springs in a 22 AR and I've had some issues with that one, but I don't think it has anything to do with the trigger springs.

I had the same issue as OP on my AR pistol. I bobbed the hammer and now it runs flawlessly

I only use the trigger spring and put the hammer spring in the lower I use for my .22 upper.

I've seen light strikes with someone's reloads in a 'battle pack'. No issues with good factory ammo.

I'm assuming he chopped off the tail of the hammer, making it a speed hammer.

JP actually sells a speed hammer, but for some reason it says it's not compatible with standard AR triggers which I thought was odd.
