    Stainless Steel Barrels

I'm looking to buy a 20" SS beadblasted barrel in .223 wylde or 5.56. I've been looking for almost 2 days now, and I haven't been able to find anything. I'm trying to do a precision build, but keep it at least somewhat light, so ideally not a bull barrel. Also, I would like it to be threaded. If anyone could provide any insight, it would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for your help.

Why not have a blank made to your specs?

If you shop around could be done around $450 finished for a match SS barrel.

Lilja makes a threaded 20" with a Wylde chamber but you'd have to bead blast it yourself.

It's not quite a heavy profile, but it's also not light weight.

This seems like it would be a very good way to go. Any recommendations? Would I go to the blank maker (krieger etc.) or would I go to some place that sells complete barrels (JP maybe?)

JP, Compass Lake Engineering (using a Krieger or Douglas), or AR15barrels (calguns vendor). JP has their own profiles so less customizable but they are known for lighter weight and high precision for their profiles, Compass Lake is really well know and can customize (could be pricey), AR15barrels has a great reputation and can also customize (could be a better value).

Krieger, Bartlin, and Shilen barrels are all great blanks to start with. As for smiths AR15 barrels on here does offer barrel work. Shop around and call local smiths and see if you can work some pricing out.

That's what I did and then ended up finding a complete Mega 18" barrel with all the specs I wanted for $300 on sale at my LGS. Guaranteed sub MOA hard to pass that up on a complete threaded, coated barrel with a guarantee like that at it's price point.

Before that I was set on a Bartlin or Shilen blank.

Is it SS that you really want? Or is it the look of stainless bead blasted?

DPMS might have a barrel in what you want. I have a DCM 20" that's lighter than a bull and shoots nicely. 1:8 with a .223 Rem chamber but I don't see much difference between it an my wylde guns. Haven't measured the distance to the throat yet.

White Oak took almost three months to ship my barrel.

Quality is worth waiting for. Honesty is also appreciated. I just waited 12 weeks for VVL 16 inch barrels from Lothar Walters and Woody original told me I'd have them in less then 4 week. That;s with a P.O. and a pre paid check. Then he got mad because we were trying to find status. Not to mention the gas Hole was partially plugged with a burr. I've got more of similar configured barrels ordered thru White Oak and I'll wait. At least I won't be lied to and then cussed out.
