Durability difference in variable scopes fro AR

I keep going back and forth thinking about variable or fixed scope for my ar 762x39. Might do something like the burris 5x with a fastfire reflex on it or variable in the 2-7x range.
Everyone says durability goes to a fixed scope, but are these variable scope brands all basically similar for durability when looking in the $300-500 ball park? burris, leupold, bushnell, nikon, vortex, primary arms, barska, zeiss

Obviously I don't want to throw my rifle across a field, but I'd like to be able to know I can without destroying everything.

I wouldn't be that worried about durability. I think that either scope would hold up under the same conditions. With the 2 scopes that you listed, I would be more concerned with your end use. Close vs long range.

Honestly with most scopes their durability is about the same fixed or variable. But if I had to guess and pick one I would hand it to fixed due to less moving/working parts.

But instead of basing your choice on durability. Base it off what you need and will utilize the most for your application. Variable or fixed, also do you really think you will test the durability of the scope enough to base your choice?

Also to add some info, I have a variable Bushnell 3200 ($340) scope and it took a digger on hard packed desert dirt off my pack on the scope. Still holds 0 and adjusts as designed.

Again the durability between the 2 versions of the same dollar scope are about the same splitting hairs, difference in durability between makers and price points is where it's worth the time.

Thanks for the comments and video. I guess that video tells a lot, assuming its not pure marketing. I'm not basing my choice on durability but I wanted to use it to help narrow down my search. Searching and looking at scope I kept seeing "rugged" in product descriptions. I want to make sure I get something that will last, and I tend to break/ruin things, its why I cant have nice things

I have the Nikon 2x7 for my AR in 7.62x39. Decent scope for the price and the weight was what I was looking at. Works well for what I want it to do. i would buy it again if I was to do it all over

I love my Vortex. The paper work that comes with it has bullet drop dope on .556 and .308 so I would assume it would work fine with 7.62
