Don't know, but we're going to find out. Looks like Brownells already carries one for 10"-16" barrels.

Controls Gas Pressure To Cure Cycling & Feeding Problems For Rifles, Carbines & Handguns

Extra-length tube lengthens the gas pressure curve to help prevent bolt bounce, short-stroke and feeding jams. Helps prevent cycling problems common to carbines and pistols. Slows bolt carrier to improve feeding reliability and reduce wear and battering. Gives softer recoil impulse, decreases cyclic rate in full-auto fire. Fits under free float tubes and handguards. Carbine fits all 10 inch to 16 inch barrels. Pistol fits 7.5 inch barrels only.

Loopy gas tube - nice! Also might want to try a carrier weight system or add some weight to the bolt carrier yourself. I've seen folks who added a cast lead plug to the rear of the bolt carrier - this slows down the BCG movement and buys a few milliseconds to move effectively up the pressure curve to lower pressures - also gives a bit more time for the case to shrink back and takes some stress off the extractor.

Of course, I only read about it on the internet ...

Winchester ammo. Might try the extra heavy buffer, I've got one of those laying around somewhere...

What about the LMT enhanced carriers? They are supposed to delay the carrier long enough for pressures to drop before unlocking. I think there is a long thread over on m4carbine that discusses it, and there are a lot of guys over there running SBR's and dealing with the problems that go along with them.

How about an adjustible gas block? o.O

This has always fixed all my shorty AR's right up. Dial them right in where they're happy.

Good suggestions, but it's a duty weapon. Dept. armorer would have to approve all changes and DPMS probably wouldn't go for modifications.

If you’ve been here for any length of time, you’ve probably seen a title including the words "Which AR?" at least a couple times every couple months. This is notable for a couple reasons. First, it tells us that many people are buying AR-15s, and many of those for use as a home defense tool...

** Many companies (Bushmaster, DPMS, RRA, S&W, etc.) intentionally overgas their systems by using larger-than-normal gas ports. It lets them function on weaker ammo, but makes the stronger ammo harsher on the rifle and more prone to inducing damage or malfunctions. The simplist fix for this is using different weight buffers.

I've attended a few matches wherein the pigtail has been used for agency 7.5 reliably, but this is a band aid solution.

the problem is, I haven't seen any credible literature on adjustable gas block, pigtails, fatboys or heavy buffer for an armorer to base on.

At this point we just want to see if the gun runs correctly with a heavy buffer or pigtail. It would not be used for duty, but to illustrate the issue.
