I have a LMT and an LWRC and the LMT is a little more accurate. It is very flexible and can easily be made into an impingement or change calibers. I switch mine form 5.56 to 300BLK depending on what I want to do.

I've seen, shot, and hand-inspected virtually ever major manufacturer's piston systems. From my personal experiences I have found no other piston system that quite tops the LMT system. It's an extremely simplistic yet rugged and reliable system. Paired with their MRP system, which allows for easy barrel, caliber, and gas system changes, it becomes a valuable asset. Most people here don't/can't run suppressors, SBRs, or full auto but when that stuff comes into play you want a piston system that can handle the stress and wear it creates. Something people don't usually talk about: piston ARs just recoil more than DI ARs and that's an un-debatable fact. Out of the many systems I've shot, the LMT seems to reduce the recoil impulse extremely well -not the greatest, but towards the top.

          I recommend a H&K MR556 its a H&K416 with a match grade barrel.
the kick from the recoil is like so soft I have shouldered it in my nutz to prove it to not kick hard lol . its mostly a big bang .
ohh yeah and the cleaning after wasn't really wasn't needed . 200 rounds and it was barley dirty and the bolt carrier was clean wipe it up and oiled it. piston was a little dirty. it amazed me how clean it was.

This is what I've come up with for a light weight build based on the new AA XLP low profile piston:

In that price range the AA uppers are hard to beat.
If cost weren't an issue i'd tell you to go LWRC... (disclaimer: i've shot plenty of piston AR's but only own DI guns.)

Adams Arms is probably the best value and their new XLP line of low profile lighter weight piston systems are suppose to start shipping in April:

Adams Arms piston-driven technology is affordable, offering lower prices on our piston rifles, uppers, and conversion kits. Prices savings of over 20%. BUY NOW!
