is multicam too tacticool? is coyote brown the CA camo?

Looking at getting a PIG UCR chest rig and had my heart set on multicam until I saw a lot of posts about it being a fad with the airsoft crowd. I don't own much else in any camo so the coyote brown might be less of an eye sore and still blends well out in the CA brush.

If your camo is a eyesore then it ain't doing its job.

I would get the old desert storm ones if you want to blend into the CA brush personally. Multicam has too much green imo, but then again I haven't tested it so I could be wrong.

This thread seems like it may be in the wrong section. But in answer to your question, camouflage is supposed to do what the name means. Look at the terrain you want to blend into and equip yourself accordingly.

It seems like multicam would work well in lots of varied outdoor environments. Heck, some heavily sage brush'd areas might even be good with ACU. Totally depends on where you are. And don't worry about people hating on it. They're just jealous you could afford the multicam and they couldn't...

Anyway, my $.02 is that people buy multicam stuff not because of its "tacticoolness", but because it is effective in their environment/more varied environments. Has the U.S. Army operating in Afghanistan gone to using exclusively multicam now? If so it isn't because it was "tacticool", it's because it works where they are way better than ACU camo. Do with these two cents what you will.

Thanks guys. My apologies if this is in the wrong section. I figured this is the AR and AK section so if anyone was running plate carriers or chest rigs it would be you guys.

And California has a variety of beautiful climates and varieties of foliage. I think multicam will be the way to go. Thanks guys.

I'm up north and I find a mixture of multicam and digital woodland works wonders. Forget what people think BUT to be honest I think flat coyote or OD green are effective when you get dirty.

Multicam works well and if in a desert brown area rub some dirt on it and it will blend better. It works, trust me.

Multicam was intended to be universal in many environs.
Brown is fairly universal as well though

I always thought the army's ucp was effective... When dirty.

Tell that to AirForce PJ's and other deployed military units wearing Multi-cam in Afghanistan.

Who cares what the airsoft crowd does? Really. Besides, they usually borrow "real steel" gear anyway. Or use cheaper versions of it like Condor or Voodoo, or even replica crap made for the airsoft crowd. Not that it stops 13 year old kids from using $500 Eotech's or Aimpoints...

Personally speaking... I buy, wear, and use what I like and what works for me. Most of my gear is OD green and my firearms are mostly black. I also like old style woodland camo and the USMC MARPAT. If I had to go back and buy new gear or "do it over again", I would lean towards coyote and multi-cam. I think they're both more versatile.

Does it blend? Yes and no, depends on the pattern and where I am, and how dirty my equipment is.

Does it matter to me? Not really. I'm not an airsoft player, I'm not LE, and I'm not MIL. Realistically, I don't intend on hiding in the brush from some possible future threat that may never actually arise.

Love me some multicam! Just get whatever fits your environment best, and just tell everyone that it's your world, airssofters are just living in it

I love multicam, but can't really justify the premium since I probably won't be hunting down the Taliban in Afghanistan anytime soon. I have a couple multicam hats, but go OD green on just about everything else. It is a good general purpose color for forested or urban environments.

Depends on your environment. In the desert you need camo that suits the desert, if you're in the forests you need camo that suits the forests. If you're running around town I find that dressing like you shop at the Gap/Old Navy works pretty good.
