Help me choose a buffer set up

Just picked up one of these:

And I'm hoping someone can recommend what to look for in a buffer set up. Still learning about ARs and would appreciate any advice.

Congrats on the upper, should serve you well.

It looks like a carbine gas system, and really any buffer set up will work. If cost is a primary concern you can pick up an entire stock kit for $65 from Tapco or DPMS.

A buffer tube, magpul moe stock, H1 or H2 buffer, spring, end plate, and lock ring bought separately will double the price, but you may find the upgraded stock worth it.

Edit: I should have added that for $160 you can get a Vltor Imod stock kit which has everything you need and is very nice gear.

go with a JP captured recoil spring. You wont need to use a buffer spring/weight detent so there are less parts and is a straight drop in.

I've never used the JP captured spring, but it looks like a $140 fix for something that isn't broken. Good old spring/buffer is cheap, effective, and proven.

A standard buffer from psa will work perfectly. Heavy buffers and spring where designed to slow auto guns down but it can also be ised to tune your ejection patteren.

I use a chrome silicon spring from Damage Industries and a Spikes Tactical ST-T2 buffer in my AR carbine. No complaints or problems.

I'm running an H2 but running a middy however. Check out the red carbine reliability kit along with an extractor kit from Sprinco while you're at it.

Why would you use anything but a standard carbine buffer/spring for this application?

If it's a plinking rifle, why not? Sure recoil is fairly absent already but it's nice taking girls or new shooters out and showing them how managable these guns can be made to shoot.

Itd ve better to show them how to hold, shouldet & stand instead. A different buffer isnt going to make much of a differance.

                          I'll concede that you're correct.

I'm a big JP fan, but if you're not running an adjustable gas block I wouldn't recommend the captured spring or LMOS buffer unless in a rifle gas or at least mid gas setup.

I believe the OP's upper is a carbine gas and for that I say a heavy buffer setup and maybe even a full auto bolt carrier to go with it.
