I have never had an EMOD in the shop. I have had standard tactical stocks and CTRs. The CTR is probably one of the nicest locking stocks out there. No play.

However, hands down I would take the SOPMOD anyday. It is by far the finest stock I have ever sold or put on a personal rifle. It is well worth the money. Or be a gun dealer and buy them during the shot show special!

The SOPMOD is solid, without yaw, pitch or roll. The EMOD doesn't have much yaw or pitch, but has a little roll.

I like the SOPMOD with carbines and EMOD with rifles. Duct tape or black RTV can make EMOD stocks much more agreeable to folks with facial hair.

so the sopmod has these storage tubes that work great when the stock is off the tube....

is that the only time they work? they seem to be locked in place once the stock is put onto the tube.

how do you easily access them? or is any access not easy?

I will be selling one or two LMT SOPMDS when I replace them with MMG and U-15 -- interested in a killer price let me know.

I will be sad -- best butt I've ever had my cheek against

As far as I'm concerned, yes, its absolutely necessary to use the tool to tighten the stock. Otherwise, it will come loose after repeated firing. Hand tightening just wont do.

Two builds solves that! Or pin the SOPMOD.

I've shot a few rifles with the LMT SOPMOD stock, it's a damn nice stock. Everyone on this thread has pretty much summed it up. It has no wiggle or play.

I personally have the Magpul CTR, it too has no play and is built rock solid (I've dropped, banged, and kicked my rifle with the stock on. SOLID). The size fits me and it is the best stock for the price range.

My next rifle will have the SOPMOD.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

I own multiples of both stocks (among others) and I prefer the E-MOD. It's got better storage and I like the shape better....all of my E-MODs are nice and tight...I used various MILSPEC size tubes (Colt, LMT, Vltor, etc.) on my builds...my SOPMODS have been relegated to my clone builds (SPR MK12MO0, SPR MK12MOD1, RECCE, M4A1 Block 1, M4A1 Block 2 and MK18)
