I bought a Springfield m1a today. I was considering sei, but solely due to the lawsuit I spent my money elsewhere. Not only that but I trash that company every chance I get when I'm chatting with my buddies at the gun store. I know I'm not the only one.

I'm outdated,I knew Clint McKee from Fulton a long time ago and he was
not producing his recvr at that time. He is the one that schooled me about the
cast/forged debate and there were fewer recvrs on the market. He thought
SA was about the best out there at that time but I have no knowledge of new SA offerings
and back in the days I'm talking we had nothing but GI parts attached to
The SA recvr and I believe that made for a much better rifle, overall. Pete
Unfortunately that is not the case today. When they stopped making Receivers in the USA (about 2003), they made them in Canada for a couple years, then had them made in another country (Rumors are Brazil where SA casts their 1911s). The parts used in SA M1As are a shadow of their former selves, cast pieces made in Taiwan and Korea. Sadly, the Chinese polytechs are more American than the Springfield is.
The modern Rifles are not bad, just not worth almost $2,000 for a nostalgic rifle made of cheap parts that shoots 3-6 MOA out of the box.Comment

5 shot groups of BALL ammo into 1-1/2" to 2" all day, never tried it with
handloads,GI barrels were chrome-lined(for full auto fire) not the BEST
for accuracy but then again----- PeteComment

I'm not surprised, current issue TACOM M14EBR-RI rifles are rack grade USGI M14s with chrome lined barrels, they were required to shoot 1.5 minutes of angle after being assembled into the Sage stocks... the average accuracy for the entire run of over 5000 conversions has been .89 MOA with LC M118-LR.Comment
