Was "multi" caliber acceptable during the last AWB
Tags: None -
I tried listing .17-.50 as the caliber and they called me and had me pick a single caliber. I've heard that others did list "multi" and in the end, their registrations say 8888 as the caliber. but in the end, it doesn't matter what caliber the registration says since there is no law that says that you can't ever change it from its original configuration.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

This is correct. They also asked for barrel length if I remember correctly; same rule applies - no law saying you can't switch out an AR upper to a longer/shorter barrel length.I tried listing .17-.50 as the caliber and they called me and had me pick a single caliber. I personally registered 2 complete lowers; I knew they were going to be .223 and I also knew that they were going to be at least 16" in barrel length. So that's what I put. No worries at all./Chris

not sure what you are smoking but during the last AWB registration period, I dd not need to deal with any LEOs while filling out the form, and I didn't submit a an SSN either. I did the thumbprint myself and mailed the form in.Jack

nobody inspected anything. you just filled out the forms and dropped them off in the mail. the confirmation letter was returned via mail.
now, if you tried to register something like a Colt M16, or listed SBR dimensions for something, I assume that they would be knocking on your door.Jack

So were you able to register stripped or complete lowers as AW during the last ban?
I was wondering if that will fly with SB374 this one since in no way does a stripped or complete lower have semiautomatic features (even if only 1% of lowers today are built as rimfire or straight pull).Comment

My lowers were registered as rifles. And as far as the DOJ was concerned, that's what they were, being banned by name, it wouldn't have mattered if I'd never completed them or not. They were still AWs.So were you able to register stripped or complete lowers as AW during the last ban?

If its not being inspected do you think that really matters? Just put down what you intend on putting on the lower. For an example, I'm hoping to buy a Mega MATEN receiver set when I get home from Afghanistan in Dec. if this crap goes into effect I'll register it with the details of how I intend on building it, even if its not built at that point. Then again, I don't intend on registering anything immediately, unless of course there is a plan to overload the system to prove some point. So were you able to register stripped or complete lowers as AW during the last ban?

Wow, I just realized it requires a CA DL or ID to register. So what will happen to all the military personnel stationed in CA or people here only temporarily for work? Before they can fit a mag lock on their rifles and leave std capacity mags at home, now there is no way they can bring them here.
