What I'm looking for is accuracy. I probably will not do the bench rest shooting other than setting and rechecking my optics. I'm going to do some research on the 3 gun because that intrigues me. I'd like too keep the barrel to under $300 or so because I will probably end up buying 2 of them. Appearance isn't that critical because it(they) will both be cerakoted.

WOA is pretty back ordered right now but their Wilson SS button rifled barrel is good and I've put many rounds through two of them.

Compass lake uses Douglass SS barrels which are a bit better quality than Wilson, they are also in stock. Frank is good people, CL is a small family company that works hard to keep people shooting and supporting juniors.

The chambering job is important, for that reason I generally wont buy a chambered barrel from Brownells as I have no idea who did the chambering. That is another good reason to buy from WOA or CL.

Satern is likely the cheapest cut rifled barrel you can buy, and also a great family company. Finding a Kreiger barrel right now is hard (brownells has them in stock but see above), except that they have unchambered 16" barrels on their website from a limited run.

Then you will need to buy a button rifled barrel from a reputable source and have a reputable source chamber it. Off the shelf that's WOA or CL. Or buy a blank and send it to Randall. Another option for something very reasonable in cost is a Green Mountain chambered by John at http://www.keystoneaccuracy.com/.

weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?
