    July 1st comes early --

Here's what's been cropping up on listings on GUNBROKER.com --

    "[Information added 06/12/2008 947 PM]
Beginning on 2008 JUL 01, CA has new laws going into effect regarding how firearms are transported into that state. So, to avoid any potential confusion, complication or hassle:
Absolutely NO SALES to CA residents. Please do not bid if you live in the state of CA.
Sorry, but I didn't make up your laws.
I will not make any exceptions, including law enforcement, so please do not ask."

      Damn that's horrible.

Although I will commend him on saying "including law enforcement" maybe the state will realize the stupidity somehow?

Yeah they will by making even more stupid laws. In this state where gay people are allowed to get married (nothing against them) but lawful gunowners can't enjoy their 2A.

my thought is since they f*** up the AW ban, they made this so companys need a doj letter to ship guns in to CAL. so if they dont approve any dealers that make oll's then they wont be able to ship (aka sell) them here???? they might have found the loop hole ....... i sure hope not.

Is this for hand guns only or does it include long guns?

Just a observation and may not mean anything. I've been watching for a Springfield 03A3 I could afford over at the CMP Forum Traders section. Well there is usually one guy (Kollector03) who puts one or more up for sale the last couple of months. LO and behold this mornings post for sale read "no sale to CA or MA", never had this on there before, bummer. Hopefully, this doesn't screw with CMP being able to ship to CA!!

spoke to Pete at ar15sales.com and he said to me after the 1st he would not be shipping lowers into California?

Is this coming to an end?

I wish some of our vendors on here would chime in and let us know what they are going to do, or let us know which of them have the "special" license that allows them to get stuff!

You guys need to calm down, just a little.

First, the DOJ will not be allowed to pick and choose whose transactions they approve. That is a lawsuit and a slap down waiting to happen. The system is automated so as long as everyone's paperwork is right, it will work.

Second, lowers are not going anywhere. I have received several phone calls from customers who are going to gun shows and are being told that lowers will no longer be available after July 1. Quit being idiots and listening to gun dealers at guns shows (unless it is CWS or one of the more reputable vendors). If I have no ethics, of course I am going to tell you that lower sales are going to stop July 1 so buy one now.

Yes, it is true this law is going to hurt the consumer. Cheap sellers out of state are going to cut California off and this is going to help the retail industry. That is the whole reason this thing slid under the radar.

It was not a DOJ plan to get back at us. It was an inside job by the industry to shrink the market. Guns will continue to make it to California, just not from the little guys on gunbroker.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

"No sales to CA" as a result of inconvenience was pretty much their goal, correct? Certainly the established on line FFL'ers will use the system but the average gun shop that dabbles on line or an occasional seller will find it easier to simply say no to California. Isn't that what the legislature wanted to accomplish?

And they'll be able to get away with not even calling it gun control. So far as they have to explain it, it's just a way to track where the guns are going, they're not preventing people from getting guns, they've put a free system in place for the FFL'ers - it's not their fault if people don't want to participate. I guess only the "bad guys" don't want to participate and that's fine by us, blah, blah, blah .....

The guy I commonly deal with explained that it was as simple as logging onto the doj website and checking the name of the recieving FFL in CA to make sure they are on a list. Then they must include a printed out letter and send it with the gun or else, it must be shipped back. Based on this, I think for many people it will be pretty easy. Anyone heard anything different?
