Not sure what your trying to ask dude. It would help if you provided a link to each of the uppers your friend has and then maybe we could help.

they seem to be functionally the same exact thing except for cosmetics
the question you should be asking yourself is do you want a rail o not?

They both have the same barrel. For the same money get the one with the rail and it also has a 158C bolt.

first one is better IMO, PSA's premium barrels are 4150 steel and the standards are 4140.

first one has a lowpro gasblock + MI FF rail which is a little better.

first one has a carpenter 158 bolt which is good the second one doesn't say much else

they are the same mechanically and functionally. The barrels are the same 4150CMV. The BCGs are the same as are the Bolts.

The railed one weighs a lot more. You will also need to buy a forward sight for it.

I'd go with the standard M4 with the magpul handguards.

I have the first one. The Midwest Industries railed handguard is very lightweight and the extra length is great for putting your support hand farther forward. For all intents and purposes, the uppers are functionally the same. For my money, I'm happy with the SS12G2 version, but wouldn't be disappointed with either. PSA quality is solid.

Both will go bang when you pull the trigger...not much difference. Welcome to calguns.

Could not go wrong with either one, I would pick number 2 because I prefer fixed front sights.

Both are good. I would prefer the first one. You will have much more options to set the rifle up the way you want.

                            Premium: 4150
