Man, I envy you older guys who were able to buy all the cool stuff... I would've spent all of my money on all kinds of RAW's.

He constantly misrepresents himself and regurgitates crap he reads elsewhere and tries to pass it off as first hand knowledge.

What really pisses me off about KVAR/Arsenal is they won't even sell you parts kits but will sell you each individual part.

I've met plenty of members with zero or very few posts who are exceptionally knowledgeable, long time shooters and supporters of 2A rights. Join date and/or post count doesn't mean squat. Hell, some of the older members here have been here since 2002 or 2003 and still have less than 500 posts but, they were the ones that figured out and spearheaded the whole OLL movement. It's not about how much time they spend here, it's about what they have done to advance the 2A movement. Or, in some cases, what they have done to help stop the antis. Some of the latter are even stupid enough to brag about what they have done and will do to help the antis.

Yeah, I've been here since 2007 or 2008 (lurking) and even I don't know all that much. To be fair, I have been out of the gun scene for quite a bit, though.

I still remember a while ago when the guys at Turner's told me my BB'd Stag AR-15 was illegal - just went there today and they're carrying both lowers and complete rifles. Go figure.

Oh good, and afterwards you can come back here and tell us how you were actually anti-Arsenal from day one .

I cannot speak to Arsenal's actions as of several years ago, I can say today however they do not appear to engage in the same practices (as Arsenal weapons are openly available in many CA gun stores now and highly available online to ship to CA) though I also haven't put too much research into it. My SAM7R has thus far been an excellent rifle that I'd have no qualms about recommending in a flash. If you don't care about previous politics and simply want an excellent AK, seriously consider Arsenal. I know the other stuff matters a lot to some people, and I can't judge them for that (though the labeling of others terrible things simply for owning an Arsenal gun is quite silly) but if all you care about is the gun, don't overlook the SAM7R or an SGL33 or the like.

I have a SAM 7R and an SGL 31 and I would recommend them to anyone who wants a solid rifle. having said that, I also have a Maadi parts kit built from a flat and a Bulgy 74 built from an NDS 2SF that I did at a BP in san diego.

It's like asking which is the best sports car. It is subjective. Everyone is right in their opinion, in their own way. So you have to find your own.

For me, personally, I would get one of the VEPRs in 7.62x54R and convert it to either be like

It's hard to screw up a Saiga and that's all your rifles are. There is nothing special about them other than Arsenal put some lipstick on them.

Have you ever seen a Saiga with a milled receiver (regardless of one's opinion on the milled vs stamped debate)? I have not. Aside from not having a full auto selector, a SAM7R is about as close to an original model AK47 (synthetic furniture aside) as you're going to get these days. By all means hate on Arsenal for its past actions, but lets not call things Saiga conversions when they're not.
