<4 years till retirement, can't wait to leave this state
California, where all of the good stuff is banned, registered, regulated or prohibited, yay.....
Law abiding firearm owners have no chance in this state.Comment

Nice fde pics guys, I think you have me convincedComment

Considering most conflicts are in sandy/dusty places these days, everything is going to get more and more dirt colored, and that means FDE.
Two-tone look just breaks up the outline further.
Going all out monotone by cerakoting (or rattle can, ugh) the upper and lower is nice, but not a necessary expense, IMO, and the really nice digicam jobs cost way too much... I'd rather spend that money on ammo or classes. But hey, if ya got it to spare, why not?Comment

This is my Bull barrel AR, I tried a Exile Machine grip on it but have gone back to a BB with a black Magpul MIAD grip.

It's mostly good. It fits with my lightweight theme on that gun. It's a little shorter than most stocks, very light and allows a good cheek weld. The AR platform isn't hard recoiling, so I don't feel like I miss much with no pad, but I could see that helping with other comfort/function issues.
The only downside I've found is that the seam between the main stock and the storage compartments will occasionally catch my goatee. I had read about this, but had never experienced it until after I read about it. Go figure.
The LMT SOPMOD on my colt 6940 doesn't do that but is larger and heavier. The VLTOR seems lighter than a lot of stocks with the fatter cheek area. The Roger's Super Stock that came on my 6940 is also light, but longer than the VLTOR and doesn't seem as sturdy. I much prefer the design of the VLTOR to the Rogers. I think I'd like something smoother than the VLTOR Modstock, but lighter than an LMT SOPMOD.
I've been thinking of checking out a Magpul ACS or STR.
So many choices, so few ARs.
Any thoughts?Last edited by Excitable Boy; 08-28-2013, 9:51 PM.Comment

Great posts! I have the VLTOR Imod on the way, I currently have the Magpul STR. I'm asian and it takes me 6 months to grow anything that ressembles facial hair so I don't think I'll have a problem with the IMOD. I'll post up my thoughts on the IMOD and STR when I put them to use.Comment

Go best of both worlds, have a black rifle and spray paint it fde....so when it get used....it will have the beat up bad@$$ look....Comment

Finding Magpul mags in ANY color other than black right now is tough, considering it's been over 6 months since they shipped any out. Overpriced stuff being flipped in the Marketplace is the only place to get them at the moment.Comment

If all you have is one rifle, leave it black.
If you have multiple rifles, you need at least one "two-tone".
-RuskieThe Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed - where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.
