I bought the omni lower about a month ago when I started my ar build and now I'm wishing I would have spent the extra 20 bucks. There is nothing functionally wrong with it except a detent hole wasn't drilled all the way through, but cosmetically it doesn't match up at all. It feels very strong and I have no doubt that it can handle the load but it is plastic and will flex a bit and accuracy may suffer. I will be purchasing a new lower here soon and use this one for a 22lr build for the old lady.

The EP Lowers we sell are reinforced with KEVLAR.

We use an EP Lower on Chiappa 22 upper, not to say they won't stand up to greater punishment. One buyer was planning use on 458 SOCOM. That's a good test! if you plan on going the 80% route... See our BUY link in signature, we'll be happy to have you use an EP Poly Lower for your 22lr..

I find it interesting that none of you have mentioned the CAV-15 polymer lowers yet. They are back in production now by a company out of Oklahoma. Those do NOT have any problems with the connection between the lower and the buffer tube because the lower and buffer tube are all one piece. I have one of those that I got for my .223 lightweight build years ago, and it has never given me any problems. They aren't exactly as cheap as most lowers last time I checked. But for doing the lightest build possible, they are worth the extra cash.

I love mine, and they're worth the money.

Cavalry Arms designed the lower from scratch.

It's not a plastic copy of a lower originally spec'd in tempered, high strength aluminum.

It's not a lower spec'd with a plastic lower parts kit.

For those posting about plastic handguns being OK, they are. But that's got no bearing on plastic copies of aluminum receivers.

I'd hop on a Cav Arms lower in a second, if I needed another lightweight weapon.

And it looks like the guys making the CAV-15 have come to their senses on price. They cut it down from the $185 where they had it to the $125 than many other lowers are priced at. Which is good, because the higher price was way out of line. If you are thinking about going with polymer, take a look at these. Seriously, they are a much better solution than a plastic clone of an aluminum lower.

Have to check out the CAV. I think I'll get one of the ATI's as well, maybe even the FMK, but it's listed at $60.
