    Recommendations on scopes

Looking for a general opinion on the best scope for an R700. Something thats in a reasonable price range yet still very effective and of good quality.

    Thanks

I see that those are in MOA, is that just preference or do you find it more advantageous over the MRAD scopes?

Besides finding my range I don't use my mil dots.

I have range cards so I just read my DOPE and dial in the range. Also I don't shoot movers so the major need for Mil/Mil scope for me isn't a must. Nor for A LOT of shooters being I'm not sure of any SoCal ranges with a mover or anyone that owns one.

Optics reasonable and good quality dont really go together. To me reasonable is 1k, and thats a HDMR. SS 3-15x or Vortex at MINIMUM $750.00

FFP and Mil/mil or MOA/MOA rets are becoming a must. Ranging, hold overs, wind calls exc.

On that note I picked up a little 6500 2.5-16x mil dot over the weekend. Its a SUPER nice scope. Just dont like the MOA turrets.

Yea they are solid quality glass. Why do so many guys have problems with MOA/MOA now? I'm just curious I've never had an issue or complain of course it's not as precise as MRAD but its still manageable in MOA. I feel most shooters can't even shoot well enough to really have a .1 adjustment put them right on. At least I know I won't I know even on a good shot at about 300 yards I pull off center more than that.

I feel like MRAD is really a high end bench rest necessity than tactical shooting. But I'm simple minded being I've used MOA for so long. Feel free to explain to me why everyone is running to and must have Mil/Mil or MRAD turrets now.

I would highly recommend this scope

                http:// http://swfa.com/Bushnell-6-24x50-Elite-Tactical-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P51670.aspx

I love the G2DMR reticle and the glass is great for the price range.

Coupled with a solid set of rings and a good base (I like the Seekins rings and bases myself) and you will have one hell of a setup.

                  OP,

Can you let us know what your "reasonable" price range is? Also what type of shooting you will be doing with your R700 (yardages, hunting, etc)

Then we can give you the information you are looking for....?

No problems, most people want to have a retical that matches there knobs.

I really like the bushnell with the G2 reticle but went with a SS 3-15 for $699.

You don't buy a scope for a rifle, you buy a scope to fit the type of shooting that you do.

It's kind of like asking; What's the best car for California?
