Stock up on lowers while you can get them for $100. Finish the build later. You'll always be able to get the other parts, probably for less than you will pay now. Lowers are an uncertainty at the moment. Make hay while the sun shines.

AKs don't have drop in lowers. You would need to rivet the parts in to the reciever.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I also want to build my own AR but do not have much experience with rifles. I was going to save up and buy a mid to high end AR from either Daniel Defense or LMT, but after looking at this thread I think I'd be better off with a cheaper AR to get accustomed to. Can you please PM me the parts you used and which sites you got it from. So far I have a $1000 budget and I'm looking for all new parts.

P.S. which lower did you end up going with? Thanks in advance

Palmetto State armory has some very affordable complete uppers. If you still want to build check Rainier Arms

All you need is the receiver.
You can register that and then finish the build later.

Just make sure you buy the CORRECT receiver for the type of parts kit you plan to buy.

So would those have to go to an FFL or just to my door?
