These are nice scopes - ProStaff that is; not the Prostate.

Nice working rifle. Love the night fighting gear and details like tied on acog and kac(?) buis[/QUOTE]
Thank you, but its the crappy issued Ma-tec BUIS, haven't gotten around to replacing it with my Troy, also need to mount the Troy receiver sling mount that was mailed home instead of the training site. The Tangodown one I also bought is nice but is bulkier and doesn't let the stock fully collapse, the Troy might not allow it to as well, but its definitely smaller and lighter weight. I also need to mount the tape switch for the PEQ-15, really tempted to buy the Surefire rail mounted switch that hooks up to the light (use one of my millennium tail caps) and the PEQ box, given the mission, not sure if thats really needed or if I can get away with using the tape switch for the PEQ and current tail cap on the light (always possible to go on missions with other, cooler units, given my skill set).Comment

If you are shooting 8000 rounds, who cares about a $100 flashlight.Comment

I'll help you out as its not obvious, the filter on the Surefire is an IR filter, thus meant to work in conjunction with the PEQ-15 and the PVS-14 attached to my ACH.
Thus, when the flashlight (unless doing dynamic white light ops), PEQ-15 and PVS-14 are used, the ACOG is not, as the 14s go on the non dominate eye and you obviously can not see IR light or lasers with the naked eye, ACOG or not.
Therefor, if I were to lose the IR filter and the other night vision devices, and go white light, I can easily use the ACOG with the flashlight, keeping both eyes open just like in any other reflex type of shooting, or I can mount my Micro T-1 and use that just as easily.Comment

I see a lot of people put their scouts next to muzzlebrakes. They get fouled up fast. But some solvent generally removes it. It may discolor it, but that gives it character!
A good tip I forgot to mention is to put some lube such as froglube paste or even Vaseline on the head and lens of the flashlight. During cleaning, it wipes right offLast edited by shamu415; 06-25-2013, 7:06 AM.Comment

I have a lamp on on of my pistols. It has gotten the lens burned somewhat over the course of a thousand rounds or so.
On my rifles that have a lamp I move it forward just enough to not shadow. I would not have it farther forward than the muzzle however. In your case, I would move it back a bit, for the reasons listed below.
First, it keeps the weight back so transitioning from target to target is quicker (less weight to move),
Second, it keeps the lens from burning and lessening effective light output. I could care about the finish on the lamp's body.
No matter, they are expendable parts and are made to be used, not fondled.sigpic

I think it looks a little funny where you have it placed. With the A2 flash hider it might last a little while but with a brake your probably going to toast your light. I would push it back a couple inches.Comment
