    Safety selector detent question

Hi there. I was milling out an 80% LR-308 and too much metal was cut from the trigger pocket that ended up exposing the detent/spring hole for the fire selector switch. Now the detent will fall out the side into the pocket. Any creative ideas for securing/guiding the spring and detent?

Not much meat to do much. I'd JB Weld (not the 5 minute type) over the area and shape as best as possible, then after it dries I'd redrill the hole. That area is not a stress point and although its not ideal there's not to many options.

JB weld epoxy putty to the rescue.
Just make a blob big enough to replace the material you need and carve it with a Dremel when it's cured.
I buggered the same area on my first AR pistol. Works great to this day.

Awesome - thanks. It sounds like JB Weld might be the answer.

Could you tap the hole and screw in a small Allen headed screw to close the side of the blind hole you opened?

Or an I picturing the wrong place being cut?
