True. I have seen some manufactures guarantee 1 moa but only with certain ammo. Maybe he could buy just 1 box of match ammo to try out.

Is that too much to expect out of an AR?
my 1022 is a tack driver as well with bulk ammo. It's really fun to shoot.

I'd expect sub moa if I spend top dollar too. The truth is, I didn't. This is as budget as it gets when putting together an AR. I pieced mine together for less than $800 and I did it during the panic.

      I'll take a photo tonight
      Don't panic bro.

Now a bolt action Remington 700 with say .223 fouled and dialed in you could get less than an inch at 100 yards.

I have 2 AR's that hold 1 MOA with handloads. Hell, RRA advertises the one upper I have as shooting .75 MOA...I've personally pulled sub MOA, but not consistently because it has iron sights and I'm not that great of a shot.

Might be a dumb question, but how are you cleaning your rifle? You might have some copper fouling?
Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...

How many rounds have your run on this barrel? What sorta trigger setup do you have? Was this 4inch group shot from a bench on a bag or using something like a lead sled (Bench rest)? What are you groups with irons? How did you break in the barrel? How was it cleaned? Has someone looked at to make sure there isn't a bur near the gas port? Is the barrel crown damaged?

I'm getting about a 4" group at 100 yards. By far the worst grouping I've ever had with any rifle. I've tried several types of factory and loaded ammo. I have to believe that either something is wrong with this rifle and/or probably just a bad barrel. It's just hard for me to believe that a barrel can be this bad.

any idea before I start searching for a new upper?

That way when you shoot 4 MOA you think "MAN" this rifle shoots good .

I had a similar issue with a Cheap scope. I was using an AIM sport 2.5-9x??, it would not hold zero, and kept getting loose. Tried a barska scope, it was better, but still had issues with it. I think everyone is right, Don't cheap out on optics, spend the money and get something that will last for a long time.

I took my Stag 2HL out for the first time last week. I couldn't shoot a group worth a c***. I'm sure it's me and not the rifle. I couldn't find a comfortable shooting position and my cheek weld was all over the place. Next time out I'm bringing my own shooting stool and hopefully I'll be able to shoot better.

If you are shooting irons, a good place to reference cheek position is using the charge handle pulled back to the tip of your nose.

What 22lr do you have that shoots "way better than MOA with bulk ammo?"

If your expecting 1/3-1/2MOA out of an AR consistently with 5 shot groups or more I think your most likely going to be disappointed.

I'm not trying to call you out maybe your telling the truth but all day sub MOA is thrown around a bit to often on forums just sayin no hard feelings.

Theres way too many variable to consider so we can't just blame the rifle... Let alone the whole platform! The AR platform can be build to have enough accuracy and reliability that's why it lasted as long as any other service rifle.
