Did Warbird supply the USGI parts or did you have to collect them yourself?

Also, thanks for sharing the pictures! They're inspiring!

I scrounged around for the parts. Ended up spending a lot on them but what the hay.

Here I was just today contemplating selling my Norinco M14 Sporter. Just went out and inventoried the Milsurp 7.62 and its over 1600 rds, packed away about 15 years ago. At least i did something right!

I once asked some years back about the Polytech - Norinco M14 Sporters at a major gun shop in Reno (now closed) and was told, "I wouldn't let that Chinese Crap through my front door". Could be why they finally went out of business? Over the years I've come to learn more about Polytechs and Norincos and appreciate them even more. At that time I didn't know competiton shooters looked for these Chinese Sporters to build match grade rifles on. I do have an almost new HRT bolt to lap in when needed BUT we're 1000's of rds away from needing to do that I think. I do have the guages to check headspace with.
Below is mine with the Bipod installed, it does make it a might heavier to pack around with it on the rifle. It has the heavy wood stock also with the wide "back porch". The 20 rd mags I've owned since 1986 when I had my first M14 kit built on a TRW receiver, sold it a few years later but kept a couple of the 20 rd mags. The "USGI Kit" cost around $350-$400 and the Receiver and barrel install another $300. What surprised me was the kit came with a fiberglass stock and the selective fire parts that would have plugged that hole in the side of the stock!
