    Wes Thompson Piru Gun Range

It's out in the Santa Clarita area. I haven't gone but from the reviews of the place it seems to be very good.

You can shoot at least that down Normandie...
Is that any where by florence
        Tolerate
allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that one does not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.

Anyone else find it sad that those who preach tolerance CAN'T allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that they do not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.

I write almost everything in a jovial manner regardless of content . If that's not how you took it please try again

There is also quite a bit of steel hanging out there as well but the distances are probably only known to the members that installed them, so a laser rangefinder is usefull.

On Edit: I just realized with your EIC comment that you are asking about the range on Base, which is not open for rec-fire. My posts have to do with the 29 Palms Pistol and Rifle Club which is a civilian facility out in town.
Oh... um... awesome! I just assumed that the 29palms club was like the Santa Margarita club and was a way for Civilians to shoot on base. I didn't realize you guys had your own stinking 1k range. I'm fairly jealous now.
weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?

There are two clubs on Base but as of now neither is set up for rec-fire at this time.

There is the longstanding High Desert Competitive Shooting Club, of which I was the Vice-Prez for a while. The main focus of this club is to sponsor the annual NRA Regional Rifle Match each November with this years being the 54th. At one point in time that match was second only to Camp Perry in stature with hundreds of competitors. The Club is usually dormant for the rest of the year but we have had intermittent spans where it has been active year round.

The other club is brand new and still getting organized on the Base. It is the 29 Palms Rod and Gun Club. It is still unclear if they will absorb the duties of the existing Club in regard to the Regional but this Club is aimed at supporting a much broader spectrum of outdoor interests then just competitive shooting.

This will add to your jealousy I bet....membership is only $60 a year with no additional use fees and it's open 24/7/365.

Coalinga is still closer to me, and all I do is shoot paper so it's a better fit, but if I end up owning land in the desert then I'll be looking you guys up.
