Need place to shoot 600+ yards in so-cal

I've been trying to find a place to shoot long range in southern CA but having a hard time . Im in San Diego and willing to travel 2 or 3 hours if needed . I"m looking for anything safe . Ranges are fine public or private , BLM land will work as well . Im not opposed to shooting on somebodies private land either .

Any places you guy got would be great

    Thanks
    Metal

Hodge road out near Barstow off the 15. BLM land. You can shoot just about as far as you can see out there.

Yes they do. The members that shoot that stuff are the ones that installed the target holder out at 1000yds and I believe another even farther out.

You can shoot MUCH further then 600yds at the range in 29 Palms.

Sure can, and you can shoot further than 600 yards at BRRC and at 117a but I was going for a consistent definition. Specifically the difference between "random steel at 600yards and actual targets at 600yards". You know... separates the men from the boys and such.

So at palms there are multiple butts? I knew the EIC matches were on a range with single butts and multiple pads, but I didn't know they had multiple butts. That's cool. If only the wind/heat weren't so brutal (or I wasn't such a pansy).

29 Palms has no butts per-se. There are target holders at various distances out to at least 1000yrds and shooters are free to place portable target stands at any distance they care to (to be removed upon completion of the days firing). There is also quite a bit of steel hanging out there as well but the distances are probably only known to the members that installed them, so a laser rangefinder is usefull.

On Edit: I just realized with your EIC comment that you are asking about the range on Base, which is not open for rec-fire. My posts have to do with the 29 Palms Pistol and Rifle Club which is a civilian facility out in town.
