And out of stock already. They look sweet. I'll stick with my Bushy LR-308 though.Former political prisoner who escaped on 9-24-23.Comment

$2349? Wow.
I decided to "pull the trigger" in mid January and build a DPMS .308
My first order was two 10 round mags on 1/25. My last order is being shipped to my FFL this week ( mobus sights and a grip pod forward bipod). I have everything else in hand.
And I did my build for less than 1950.00 with extra upgrades
SI Defense receiver set
Cmmg LPK
Harris Tatical BCG (side ordered the SI one and will sell the Harris)
Rainier arms Barrel
YHM flash compensator
BCG charging handle
Sprinco spring for buffer
DPMS 6 position stock
Ediline AR buffer ( drops recoil significantly)
POF roller cam pin
Mid length gas tube
Low profile gas block
JD Machine 15" free float hand guard w barrel nut and 2-3", 1-6" piccatiny rails
Just also ordered two Magpul 20 round rebuild kits.
My point being, you can still build them cheaper if you are willing to wait. Most of my costs were retail because my FFL who is building one also had to wait for parts. I jumped on what I saw, when I saw it and still built one to my specifications.
That one has optics. Yes, but I now can decide what to put on it.
Just because a complete is in stock, doesn't mean you have to be the one to buy it. The prices are going down and the stock will be back.
I jumped and bought parts as a comparison with how much my build will be compared to my FFL. Mine will be built this week and his probably still a couple months out. And still cheaper than a complete off the shelf.
Just food for thought.Comment

The Sig 716 is a great shooting rifle. I used it in a Military Sniper competition last year and it ran flawlessly. If you can get your hands on one, I would highly recommmend picking one up. For the trigger, just needed some minor tuning.Comment

Kevlar - I know it is expensive as my friend and AR consultant, Glen, mentioned the exact same thing and he'd built all his super nice ARs from ground up. I did a little research and the msrp has gone up from the factory Sig. I saw places that were previously $2k without a Sig scope and am sure that my regular online dealer won't jack me, at least i hope not. I have a LWRC M6A2 on order with them that should be coming in next month and i know their price is a little lower than most places as i looked before i purchased. Also other firearms i purchased from them were a little less than most. I do understand the concept of building my own AR but I just sold my noveske lower as I was originally planning to build my own but the price would've been a smidge under paying for a high end AR with the crazy prices now so I'd rather pay a bit more for a complete one. However, I will still consider building one in the future if the prices come back down. I've always wanted a .308 AR and might as well jump on it. I guess I'd rather have it now than to wait for all the prices come down and parts to be available.
The_dude - Good to hear the positives of my purchase. Should be receiving it soon as I'm going to mail out the payment now. What trigger work would you recommend? Just lightening up the trigger?Last edited by smak28; 03-23-2013, 6:22 PM.sigpicComment

Correct on the piston build.
I should correct myself. That is a great gun. I was stating, in general, the prices and deals can be found if someone wants to wait and build one.
My whole point initially was to mention the differance and I completly forgot. Miserable fail

I have no experience with the rifle but plenty of experience with Hinterland Outfitters and Brett... both are GTG!
Brett is very accommodating - very CA friendly... back when mag locks were only known in CA (pseudo underground), he was willing to install on an AK variant prior to shipping (when no other out of state vendors were doing so).
I think they have gone to fixed shipping price too - $9 per order iirc (like Grabagun.com)."Kamala is a radical leftist lunatic" ~ Donald J. TrumpComment
