Since the mags are already in the state and they were not brought there by anyone, this is not "importing."

If you arrange for someone to bring the mags into CA, either by carrying them in or tossing them across the line, they are acting as your agent and you are importing them.

Nope. Here is the law:




Show me where it's illegal to buy one. Show me where it is illegal to find one. Show me where it's illegal to posess one.

I'm part of the lucky group that obtained them before the ban so I am free. But had I broken the law in 2001 and illegally imported them I would be immune from prosecution because statute of limitations has expired.

It is not illegal to possess one, but buying one would probably bring you within the accomplice, accessory, or conspiracy statutes because you would be an accomplice, accessory, or conspirator to the sale. The same is also probably true about lending / giving.

I can do 10/20 M1A mags... Ive done them, FAL and BM59 mags with good results.

You supply the mags and its $25 + SH to do the mods.

Cute word games and 'clever' ideas like 'finding' magazines aside, acquiring a magazine capable of holding more than ten rounds of it's designed caliber is illegal in California.
