    flight legal one-rifle case

what would be a good flight-legal one rifle case to buy? im kind of worried about carrying something like that in luggage (not because of the hassle but because im afraid itll be mishandled or lost). would a decent rifle case be able to protect against the effects of personnel carelessness?

It may be legal, but I wouldn't want to take it on a plane. I took a precision rifle class out in Texas and had my fairly light rifle banged around quite a bit. It was in one of those cheaper aluminum ones. Luckily, the gun didn't get beat up too bad, but the case sure was. If it had been a heavier rifle, or 2 rifles, it would have been bad.

Pelican and Starlight cases get great reviews.

I don't have a pelican for my gun, but I use them extensively for traveling with very fragile and critical equipment. We send them through Fed-ex and UPS also and they hold up extremely well. They are not such a bad price either.

Hardigg Storm cases are the shiz! I put a label on it saying BIOHAZARD: MEDICAL TESTING SAMPLES. My cases were suddenly more gingerly handled.

                      Brilliant.

You can't go wrong with Pelican or Hardigg Storm.

Don't fly with any of the new made in China SKB cases or you will be a unhappy camper.

Whatever you decide to go with make sure it is HEAVY DUTY. Went to Texas a couple years ago with a double rifle case and by the time I got back to Ca I don't think it would endure another trip through the luggage system. The thing was about smashed to bits. And this was no cheapy case either, I think they get off on seeing how much damage they can do to peoples luggage or something. Thing looked like it had been dropped off the empire state building SO be sure what you use is tough enough.
