    OLL, Police, Indoor shooting range.

Went with my dad tonight to shoot my OLL AR with my new Scoutrail (Thanks Wes) and we got there and the guys behind the counter told me that the rifle range was in use right now by some Sac PD officers shooting their new Sig .223. Got a little freaked out cause i didn't know what they would say to me when they would see my OLL. We waited a couple of minutes cause they were using all the lanes and then one of them came out and said they weren't using a lane anymore and that they were sorry they didn't know anyone was waiting. So we went in there and i put my rifle bag on the counter and unzipped it and put my rifle on top of my bag then helped my dad put up a target cause he wanted to shoot is 22LR first. After i helped him with that i came back and they were all kinda standing around my rifle and right when i walked up the one officer says "Thats illegal" with a big grin on his face, i took him seriously and told him why it wasn't and then he goes "I know i have one at home with the Prince50" They were nice guys. My dad talked with one of them for a bit and they offered to let me shoot their sig .223 police issue.
Anyway here is what i did at 50 yards, the marked shots and the circled grouping are the 50 yard ones the other shots were at 25yards just to see what i could do. Don't know why i did worse at 25 yards.

Now that i've thought about that exchange with the officer cause it kind of happened so fast, he said it was illegal and i think he was thinking i had the same magazine lock as him and that with my mag out it was in illegal formation. So now i feel bad i didn't educate him on the BB. I pointed it out but he kinda wasn't really paying attention to me cause he was packing up, the older officer was listening to me though.

I forget who originated the phrase, but it's been said that the mind often treats exposure to a new thought as the body treats exposure to a new (protein?) - that is, it is automatically rejected. I think the same is true of society in general and that's what we've been seeing for the last few years. But it occurs to me that as the shooting and law enforcement society becomes over time repeatedly exposed to these new items they are gaining gradual acceptance. I think that will continue.

haha yeah it was my first time truely shooting my rifle cause last time i couldn't get a good eye relief with the rings i have, needed the scoutrail to raise it up a bit.

I didn't shoot the sig, i thought it was best not to.

It was a power trip. Cops like to raise the "pucker factor" on a person, it makes them feel powerful. I was a peace officer and I have to admit, it is a cheap thrill that is hard to resist. Of course now when they try that on me, I use the Obie One Kanobie thought control trick on them and raise their pucker factor! I guess old habits die hard?

You turned down the offer to shoot the Sig? Epic fail. Not to mention that the cop was probably just messing with you.
