Which 5.56 Semi Rifle Should I Buy? - Poll

I'm looking at purchasing a 5.56 semi-auto rifle. I'm not looking for a project, but a turn-key rifle, ready to go. My budget is up to $3K or so. The factors I believe to be important include: quality, craftsmanship, finish, reliability, accuracy, durability, ease of care/maintenance/cleaning, and of course awesomeness!

The models I'm considering include: Colt LE6940, LWRC, Sig 516 (or other), Steyr USR, and FN SCAR. If you have alternatives I should consider please post (helpful) suggestions below. Also, please support your vote with a comment and information. All input will be greatly appreciated~!

This....lol ...they can be found...for 3x-4x what they cost 2 months ago...lol. In all honesty, they best one to buy is the one you build. That way, you know your rifle inside and out.

...on a side note, if you go that kind of money to blow on a rifle...you need a friend? lol

.ooh ...i say scar..just cause i think they are badash!

With the way current prices are, I'd suggest a Red Ryder BB gun at your local Wally World until prices become reasonable again.

Then, any of them you prefer. Most people here will agree that any of those rifles fit your requirements.

Just get your favorite. Don't worry about what everyone here thinks.

I think the SIg is piston driven. persoanlly I would avoid this. I would get a quality AR!%, Colt, spikes, YHM, etc.

DPMS and CMMG are know as lower brands.

          good luck though

SCAR, but good luck finding one for your budget. I've wanted one for awhile and theyve always been out of my budget. I havent even looked at what they are going for now... Probably what you could buy a small car for...

I also suggest building your own rifle right.

You can also get quality rifles from...

                Huldra
                Core15
                LaRue
                Adcor
                Daniel Defense

                etc etc

You should really see what is available to you then decide. Get one used and upgrade as you see fit.

                Research, research research.

Why would you avoid a piston driven weapon.

Other: Ruger Mini14 or Volquartsen Evolution for me, as a first .223/556. (Though I do have an AR).

I would spend that kind of money on any rifle that wasn't a collector and worth at least 3Xs that. PAX

I don't think I'd spend that kind of $$$ based on an internet poll.

does anyone have a KEL-TEC SUB-16CA 223? This is a featureless rifle not on the banned list. It's also relatively inexpensive. I had thought of purchasing one until the Bullet Button Ar's were available.

I don't own one, but I've shot it. It's fun to shoot, featureless, and takes AR mags. I've heard some people have had troubles with failures to feed and eject. That's secondhand info; I can't confirm this.
