Your Opinion - Best 5.56 AW / Battle Rifle?

i like the daewoo dr 200, reliable, balanced, accurate, shoots all kinds of ammo. Gas system of the AK, operating parts from the AR, great rifle. Of course thats the 5.56, if we are talking about best rifle ever......the M1A hands down.

This is funny, and sad, but overall ridiculous. The best quote in here was "Its the Indian, not the Arrow." Right on bro.

That being said, M4s and AKs are both outstanding platforms, just like HKs, M1As/M14s, Valmets, Galils, AUGS, etc...Guys, I've shot em all, and have seen real world examples of the tissue damage each one of them produces. They will all kill you as dead as the other.

For the OP, get the weapon that FITS YOU, and your budget. Spend the rest on not just ammo, but GOOD TRAINING. Personally, I would borrow a solid rifle from someone, go to some good training, and make choices AFTER I HAD SOME EXPERIENCE in hands-on application. Most people find out that all the mall ninja crap is not needed, hardly used, and typically just in the way.

As an opponent, I would be much more reticent to face you if you trained hard with ONE weapon, than didn't train at all, and had a safe full of guns. FWIW. Good luck in your endeavors. - DAW

I have not really seen the AR carried by a winning army either. I don't count Viet Nam and the Middle East as wins.

I hope you don't say that in front of my brother ( Viet Nam Vet ), or any other vet that fought there, he's been known to hurt people when they say that.
