What did the ban do in terms of 80% lowers. Could you still make one and say it was pre ban?

Did 1994 AWB apply to parts or just firearms?

Oh, you don't know?
No one does.
Yeah, calm down. It's this attitude that causes CTD and other vendors to jack up their prices.Originally posted by fighterpilot562Damn it man! We could have got drunk, called a taxi and drop by Kest house with a mega phone.Comment

Reading this is like a stroll down memory lane. I remember dealing with the 89 import ban, the CA AWB ban in 1990-91, and the 94 crime bill, and the CA 2000 ban (SB23) on mags and other evil looking things and the 2008 Obama post election scare.
I have always tried to be in front of the curve on this stuff over the 25+ years and that strategy has never failed. Sure there is no ban and congress has is not back in session yet. I do think the anti-gun group is a lot smarter today than in the past years and learned from the past, you can rest assured that "IF" something does come out it will be bad. No tin foil hat here, just reading the signs. I hope nothing comes of this but if you have been looking at something that may be on their radar screen I would error on the side of caution and get it. If I look back at all the purchases on ammo, mags, guns, etc I have made over the years I have on average come out ahead even if I paid a little more for one item, I made up for it somewhere else. I guess you just have to ask youself is it worth spending a bit more now to ensure you get what you are after. The only down side is if you wait and something bad does get passed you are pretty much screwed or your will really pay a premium. The sad news is the time to purchase was last summer or at the least prior to last Friday. According to some people the world is ending on Friday anyhow so this may all be for nothing, lol....Comment

There were not 80%'s around then. i do remember seeing "paper weights" ie totally unmachined forgings, but more as a novelity. But no, you could not build a "pre ban." You had to buy, or assemble a legally configured rifles. For AR's that simply meant you had a fixed stock and no threaded barrel and the bayo lug grounded off. The barrel had to be unthreaded, or a muzzle device perminantly attached (high temp solder or pinned and welded.)Comment

1994 doesn't matter. IF they try and IF they succeed you can beg their gonna fix the " loopholes" of the 1994 version.
But as stated above. There's been nothing more than pandering. Nobody's actually taken the first step.Slayer of abalone and lingcod.Comment

Nobody has taken the first step only because they're in recess. Better believe if there was no holiday recess they would already be working on this. It's a sad realityComment
